Whether it’s coming from the coaches or players (Dabo or QB1), there has been a propensity to not accept or believe the results they have achieved.
This team sits at 4-3 with fumble after fumble, blown assignment after blown assignment, and bad decision after bad decision. Yet somehow there is this belief inside the organization that the team is better than they are showing or a small number of plays away from demonstrating the results that achieve excellence.
Quite frankly, that is baloney. The mistakes are real, the poor decisions are real, the blown assignments are obvious. To deny or downplay otherwise is to make excuses and condone poor performance.
Top to bottom this team is selling themselves a bill of goods and not owning their own performance, nor their results. This is the fundamental flaw that is holding this team down.
Oh yes there is some acceptance and accountability. But if you listen closely, is always met with a qualifier. We are better than this or some such verbiage. It’s a cancer, that is blocking continuous improvement.
Acceptance of the outcomes and underlying behaviors is the first step. There are no qualifiers. This starts at the top and the rest will follow. Until then, we will remain stuck.

They had 2 weeks to prepare for this game but I don't know what they did during this time. That was an ugly display last night on every front.

Dabo is in denial. The Dabo of 15 years ago were the been able to say, “yeah we’re not good. We have to be better in all phases of the game if we want to win.” Back then, it was all Tommy Bowden’s fault.
The current state of affairs are 100% on Dabo, and he just can’t accept it. It is mind, this is a great team. But reality is, we’ve lost five of the last eight against power five opponents. That is clear evidence of a team that simply not good.

Totally agree, Purple. Some time back I made a poaster about the Sunshine Pumper in Chief who was saying we were the fastest team ever, best LB's in the country, best DL in the country. My reply was "No. We are not" and you need to stop saying it. They seem to feel if they say things, they automatically become truth. Well.......no they don't........so STOP SAYING THEM!!
