With MAGA, the cruelty is the point. They'll twist their logic in knots to justify it, but their initial glee and gloating over it shows they just enjoy the cruelty.

places around the country for years at this point. Can we get some pearl clutching over that, or no? That's aside from the fact that they are more or less inviting the migrants to come with their policies.
Also, it's fun watching the propaganda spread to the masses. "Cruelty is the point" is a phrase I've seen repeatedly lately.

I ain't going over that ad nauseum again. They were flown to other places as they awaited asylum processing because certain areas were overloaded. They weren't lured onto planes with promises of aid only to serve as a "gotcha!" publicity stunt.
They are not the same thing. Period.
EDIT to your EDIT: The cruelty is the point, and bruh, you've gobbled up the Trump camp propaganda for the last few years. Literally, you're regurgitating a Sean Hannity argument that came out shortly after this story broke.

You also missed the entire point of this "stunt", which is to make the people who support illegal immigration have to deal with the consequences of it....Which they didn't end up like very much. So now we get the whining about Desantis to deflect from their hypocrisy. This is very transparent.
What propaganda am I regurgitating? I have no idea what Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson, or any of the other people have said about this. Recall, you didn't even know the Biden admin was flying them around at the time.

Recall, you didn't even know the Biden admin was flying them around at the time.
I didn't, because it wasn't relevant to this. It was a made-up counterpoint. After I was initially shocked to hear it, I looked it up and realized it's a BS comparison. They aren't the same thing.
And if you really believe the argument of "Biden did it too!", that seems to indicate y'all at least recognize the action is wrong but somehow think it's justified because the other side did it. Which, they didn't.

children? Any confirmation of that, because when you look at videos of the holding facilities and who is being encountered at the border it's pretty much all working age males. I've never seen the demographics of illegals crossing the border, but maybe that is out there. You don't find it funny how the people who supposedly support illegal immigrants got their panties in a wad when they had to actually deal with an influx of them? Like, that doesn't even register that maybe that was the whole point of doing this?
My favorite part of this issue is the fact that it totally detracts from the fact that under the Biden administration, illegal immigration has become rampant.

Well, I can't speak for those folks you mention, but I'm not a supporter of illegal immigration. I just don't like cruel publicity stunts with humans to try to score political points.
I don't disagree with your assessment of Biden administration's immigration policies/actions but that doesn't change the fact that DeSantis ###### up.

If you want to hang your hat on that "gotcha" to those cities, sure, have at it. But that's the problem. It was a poorly planned retaliatory/publicity stunt. DeSantis (and those who supported it) didn't play the long game.
It'll cost taxpayers a ton in lawsuits. It gives Dems easy cannon fodder against him. In the end, it was stupid, costly, and poorly planned. All it did was give a little ### tap to those who already adore Trumpism, and it just further disgusted those in the middle whose votes matter the most.

Yeah. Getting shipped to Martha's Vineyard when you thought you were going to Mass. is not the worst bait & switch you could encounter.
It's more the idea that you see these people as nothing but political props that can be "shipped" like dispensable cargo for shits and giggles.
However, there were allegations it was done in a way to make it harder (if not impossible) for these people to make their hearings, thus more likely to be deported. But, that would make DeSantis a sadist, when he's more of just a misguided attention seeker.

Not sure about those allegations, but overall not sure why it is considered any crueler to send illegal immigrants to sanctuary municipalities than to leave them where they are. The cruelest thing would probably be to send them home, but in most cases probably the right thing.

to take life threatening risks in order to come here, because they think (know) this administration will let them in if they can make it. How many of them have been cooked in semi trailers trying to get across the border at this point? How many rapes? Probably lots. You know what would solve that? A secure border.

Last I checked, we have policies that prevent people from hiring them, yet those laws are broken each and every day. If employers were not offering them jobs, they would not come here in the first place.Probelm is that neither party really cares that much, so it is just a pointless political wedge issue with eveyone pointing their fingers in the wrong direction.

So that is the narrative, but is it true?

We’re looking at a declining labor participation rate, and I don’t see any indication we’re approving immigrants based on merit. In fact, our immigration seems to prioritize those who bring the least to the table. Highly educated and trying to go through the proper channels? We’ll, that’s going to be a huge PITA. Be poor/uneducated from a third world country and illegally enter the US to have a baby? Yass, we must help!
What’s the root cause of that, and what is to say new immigrants won’t continue the trend exacerbating stress on our social systems/infrastructure(schools, hospitals, affordable housing, etc.)? Here’s another thought, if manpower is what we need to keep our economic engine going, maybe encouraging abortion isn’t the best idea? That’s what, over half a million people a year we’re killing off?
You also have to consider the societal cohesion aspect, you can’t just take ants from one colony and put them in another then expect everything to go great. That’s not to say anyone is necessarily bad, but language/cultural barriers will always cause conflict. That’s how you devolve into a ‘low-trust’ society in which nobody is happy.
TL;DR we have a culture problem and no amount of immigration, legal or otherwise, will fix it.

DeSantis, who is supposedly going to be the savior of the GOP in 2024, actually presented some strong border security suggestions and immigration policies to get both conservatives and moderates on board with ideas instead of pulling a stupid "own da libs!" stunt that has backfired and will likely cost taxpayers millions? And will probably hurt him in the election?
Wouldn't that be the smarter move?
This is why we need Nikki in 2024; we need an adult in the room who can create sound policy and plans that help all of America, not another MAGA Trump child. And no, that "we can't go back to Republicans who couldn't win or gave in to Dems" argument doesn't work. Pubs like her did win and often. Trumpers haven't won #### in the last two elections.

This was a needless self-own for DeSantis. He only did it because he saw Abbott was getting play, and then went about his own charade without the stomach for actual execution; thus outsourcing the details to a person shady (and just dumb) enough to get it done.
Prior to this I'd say he had the nomination locked up without question. Should this escalate, and I think it will, the door is wide open for Haley.
