Be kind and respectful to other people, all people, to everyone you encounter. Be slow to anger; take a deep breath before you lash out. Understand that some people, (like you and me some days) are just having a bad day. Treat others the way you want to be treated.
I didn't say it was easy, but it's pretty simple. It's the answer to a lot of our problems.
Our society and all of humanity should reflect it. It's a powerful message that should not be underestimated. It should be preached and encouraged and reinforced constantly, by every means possible. I'm not a naive simpleton (well, maybe I am), and I realize we need laws and police and armies to make sure the people who aren't on board don't rurn it for the rest of us. Those things must be strong and decisive in protecting us; that much is a necessity until everybody gets it.
Don't hate, insult, lash out, or harm anyone just because they are different from you, or because you disagree with them, or because you "don't like them", or they don't like you. Save that for people who are a real threat to you, who are actually trying to harm you. Sometimes when people just talk to each other withouit judging, they realize they have enough in common that they can get along in spite of their differences. When I watch the news and see what is happeneing in our country, and in our world right now, I know it's important that I try ... and I need all the help I can get.
