On Dec. 20th. I guess they have to try and create some drama considering he's the #1 player. I swear they are becoming the TCI of recruiting sites with all the clickbait nonsense.
"If I’m Trevor Lawrence for example, do I sign with Clemson on Dec. 20 when I can just wait it out and enroll in mid-January? What advantage is there for him to sign?"

They always hate when top prospects...especially THE top prospect eliminates any drama and commits early with no excitement for NSD. Now that there's an early signing period they just use that as another thing to build up drama for their own site to make articles about. We call this FAKE NEWS now I believe lol

They should really have coverage on December 20th for Early Signing Day. One would think they can make money that day, and normal signing day as well.

especially for a 5 star early enrollee. Why sign an NLI that binds you to anything when you've already filled out the scholarship paperwork? Don't sign and NLI and you maintain your flexibility just in case something happens at the school between Dec 20th and your first day of classes. Without signing that NLI, you basically don't have to buy the cow to get the milk.
I really thought that this early signing period would be snapped up by a bunch of 2-3 stars who have offers from bigger schools. Force the schools to actually commit to the prospect too so that they can't drop you for a bigger name later. Lets face it, all 5 stars and most 4 stars are "oversign worthy" so there is no reason for them to bind themselves.

The thing is though Lawrence has stated Clemson is the place he would go even if he didn't play a snap of football. So there's that.

He's just using an example of the top rated player who is an early enrollee. He could have used any player that plans to forgo his 2nd semester Sr year.
