Assuming he has one year of eligibility left. Where do they turn the following season? Another portal QB. Oregon is the same. Will be interesting to see how they utilize the portal for QB’s.

What’s not to like about this for FSU. We invested three years in DJU and suffered through his learning curve. Our mistake. He just wasn’t that good. We got the recruit we wanted, but we wanted the wrong person. Most of the time when we started a game, the opposing team had the better quarterback when DJU was our quarterback. That was never the case with TL16 or DW4.
DJU has had another year of starters experience. Maybe the fifth year is a charm for him. Maybe he is no better. But he’s certainly better than anyone on the FSU roster now. Meanwhile, we are still on yet another learning curve of yet another mediocre quarterback, with no one better coming in through the portal.
This is how FSU is going to play and find their players. It might even be cost-effective to simply buy the best quarterback available in his fifth year in the portal, than to invest so much time in scouting and recruiting and paying first-year players. One thing I can predict is that DJU will opt out of a bowl game if there is any advantage to himself. Probably, he will opt out of an ACC championship game if there is no chance of going to the playoffs.

-DJ is such a classic case of “almost.” He has shown who and what he is, he has hit his ceiling and IF a team can use him exactly as he is, no more/no less then he has a fit. Don’t expect him to somehow get into a different team or system and look magically better or show us something we haven’t seen from him.
-Its hard to have any sympathy for FSU despite getting left out and having no one show up for their bowl game. They built that team with portal guys who absolutely positively 100% just showed up for a payday and exposure with no emotional or intellectual responsibility to the university at all. They simply did what money players do, treat themselves and their brand as the business venture that it is. Bringing in a limited player with one single year of eligibility is more of the same that got them where they are and will keep them from being perennial achievers.

They got a mediocre QB at best. I’m looking forward to when we play them. Maybe the DBs play 5-10 yards behind the receivers so they can pick the overthrows
