Coaching clinic by UVA

I don’t think UVA was athletically superior to Clemson. However, the Tigers were thoroughly out coached.
2 examples: on Offense, UVA was great at setting screens BELOW the foul line, something Clemson rarely does. As the shot clock melted, and after getting picked numerous time, our guys lost some court awareness, resulting in many easy baskets.
On defense, UVA was effective at double teaming both the low post and the perimeter. The key being the other 3 defenders knew where to be on a kick-out pass to deny an open look, then quickly get back into man to man matchups.
Just a better coached team. Tigers came out of halftime throwing up threes with nobody even near the basket. UVA methodically ran their offense and went on 8-0 run before Brad knew what hit him. Down 20, game over with 18 minutes left.
I think it’s time for a change.

It’s not as much being “out-coached” in a single game as much as it is

that Tony Bennett is one of the best coaches of all time. Period. I would argue that UVA has a coaching advantage in almost every game they play. He is that good, and the way he teaches his system and recruits to it is second to none.
No shame in losing to him.
Now, if you want to look at Brad and “coaching” on the whole… that is a different discussion.

UVA did a great job of illegally screening below the foul line. How many times did one of our players have to pick themselves up off of the court after being clipped by a knee that was moved into their way; here’s your answer a lot. Since we’re only Clemson there was a grand total of one moving screen called the whole game; It’ll be interesting to see how that aspect of the game is officiated tonight against Duke.
They do a great job of doubling the post and it’s a big reason why Bacot for UNC only had 4 points in the prior ACC game. They also do a great job of holding and hand checking on the perimeter; which they get away with more than any team. The trash ACC refs give them the benefit of the doubt that most schools don’t because they’re Virginia and they’re known for being physical. It’s a big reason why they often dominate in the ACC portion of the season but do nothing (aside from the one year obviously) in the NCAA tournament.
I think Bilas made a great point last night that one thing Brownell could have done was move to a full court pressure defense earlier in the game. It would have kept them out of their half court offense longer and we wouldn’t have had to deal with the moving screens for as long. With that said I don’t know if a coaching change is warranted; but I do know it shouldn’t be based on just last night’s game, and that what I saw last night from Bennet was not a “coaching clinic”.

There are few, if any, better than Bennett.***

I believe Bennett and Brownell started at the same time. Bennett's winning % is .734 and Brad's is .579, not even 6 wins out of 10. Barnes was .607 at Clemson, Purnell was .605 at Clemson, Ellis was .580, Foster was .595, all better than Brownell when the ACC was the best conference in the country, not sorta average like it is now.
So tell me again why we want to keep a coach who is our fifth best coach by winning % in our recent history against significantly weaker opponents? 10 out of 13 misses on getting to the NCAA tournament?
Tell me again why we have to keep him?

Also, when you have to run around and exhaust yourself playing defense against their offense moving to a zone defense could have prevented a lot of what they were trying to do and kept your guys from wearing out losing their focus. Our guys were just as good as their guys.

CBB is supposedly a great X's and O's but he makes lots of poor tactical and strategic decisions.
