Interior Door Question

Bought this house about 2.5 years ago. I think it was 2 years old when we bought it. About 6 months into living here, we started having a couple interior door hinges that just started pulling out from the frame. They were tiny screws, but larger screws didn't help, especially when going into the door. This seems to be happening on 5 or 6 doors. Usually ones that my kids throw stuff behind and try to slam (Laundry, closet, under stair storage). Enny yous guys got any solutions?
Internet says to shove toothpicks in the holes, cut them off, then screw into that. Or use wooden dowels, same thing though. I was thinking about using some of those plastic screw anchors for drywall and hope that works, but if I ream it out too much, Imma be replacing doors and frames. So far I have just used slightly bigger and longer screws (yeah, twss) and it works for a little while, but the da>mn laundry room door is in shambles.
Thanks in advance to you guys.

but the new puppy likes to go into closets and laundry room to eat dirty socks and undies. So that is a no-go.

Wooden spoons and/or a well-time chancla toss are also effective deterrents.***

It wasn't until I owned a home that I realized how big of a pain in the ###....

...doors, the process of hanging doors, and pretty much all door-related issues really are.
I have a new found respect for anyone with a good looking door that works properly. I will also never laugh at any story involving someone's front door getting egged or falling victim to any door-related shenanigans.
A door is one of those things that's easy to take for granted...until something starts going wrong.

right. I was going to get one of those automagic locks but I imagine it would be he>ll getting it to work in the warm months when the wood expands ever so slightly. Instead, I have to pull on the door to close and lock it. Door is like 10' tall too, I sweater gawd I aint trying to do anything to that door unless I have to.

We had a couple of doors doing that. I used bamboo skewers instead of tooth picks. Seems to have done the trick. But, it’s just the two of us here. No oblivious youngins.

When you say bigger screws, how big?

If you use significantly longer screws (e.g. 3 - 4 inches (twss)), it should catch the 2x4 jamb that the door is hung in.

I don't know that the wall anchors would do what you want.

If there is no where for those wings to pop out then press up against like on dry wall they may just fall out as bad as the other stuff. A dowel and glue may be the only way. Sounds like the fame is #### rotted or just insanely soft wood.

The flat.head screws cannot be higher than the hinge. They must be flush. A flat head bolt with toggle would be next choice for door hinge only. You could relocate the.hinges, butt that's a.lot.of work. hth
