Spending 2 nights in Vegas with my kids (husband will be working on this leg of the trip so I'm exploring Vegas solo with kids) before we do a grand canyon/Sedona trip.
Anyone ever had to entertain kids in Vegas? We are going to see Cirque du Soleil one night.

Its super cool and like 20 mins from the strip.
Valley of Fire is an hour+ north and much cooler than Red Rock Canyon, but its more of a day trip.

And day drinking on Fremont Street. Cheap kid-sized portions of liquor. Way better than buying the expensive Fisher-Price 'My First Day Drunk' set.

Jimmy and Jimmynetta nearly heat stroked out because we underestimated what we would need in the dry heat.

Flew out to Phoenix. Wife, myself, 1yo, 5yo and 10yo sons. Land in Phoenix and crashed at some notel motel. Woke up and off we went. Had a Dodge Minivan. Lugged 2 car seats with us as well. First stop was Sedona. Neat little town. Kinda touristy, but what the heck, the drive in and out was AMAZING. Ate pig bawls while kids had rattlesnake. Leaving Sedona heading north towards Flagstaff is a CLIMB. Was snowing once we reached Flagstaff (this was like in April or May). Headed off to the Grand Canyon, got there around dark. FULL day drive from Phoienix. Went on a tour of the GC, and dude with us almost fell off the rim taking a selfie. Wife was paranoid with 1yo and 5yo near the edge, so we had to keep a sharp eye on them. Elk were everywhere, and 1yo LOVED them. Had Hopslam beer in the grocery store there. After 3 days left for Vegas. Stayed in the Bellagio. Decided to stop in Williams and travel down Rt. 66 to Kingsman. Somewhere on Rt 66 5yo blew chunks. Luckily it was bagged, so not a big deal. NOTHING on Rt. 66, like NOTHING. We saw a double-decker train that had to be 5-10 MILES long. In Kingsman we stopped at an Arbys. This time 1yo blew chunks all over the table. We bolted. Got to Vegas that evening (another full day drive). Upon entering the high roller suite atop the Bellagio, 1yo blew chunks again. Room was nice. Minifridge cokes were $10, and beer was like $20. Fridge locked.
Went to see Citcdusoleil or whatever. 1yo blew chunks on wife right in the face there. She left and walked the mile back to the Bellagio with him while me and two oldest watched.
Went to the Hoover d>am, and were hoping to take a d>am tour. Well the da>m elevator was broken so we could only see the top and tour there. Never gambled a dime because we literally could not eat (5 of us) for under $100, and parking was $40 a day. The tables all had huge minimum bets (all $25 or above, mostly $50 or $100). I could blow my $300 I planned to gamble in minutes, so I didn't. NOT impressed with the strip overall. Not the place I visited in 1987 with my parents. Also, very few people gambling compared to when I was a kid. Open tables everywhere. They make up for it too with food and entertainment prices.
Kids will love the Hoover ###, assuming the elevator to the bottom is fixed so they can see the generators. I think they have a legoland too. Overall it was a fun trip. Grand Canyon was better than expected, because kids loved it. Vegas was a let down, but kids still loved it. Oldest son loved seeing the Ferraris and Lamborghinis everywhere.

so that was his deal, car sickness. Easy fix, look out the window.
1yo was acting absolutely fine, and it was random. Those were his only 3 puking events, all on different days, and fine otherwise. Was weird. It wasn't like a stomach bug or food poisoning, or even acting sick.

Fortunately my kids are a little older (7 & 10) and pretty good travelers.
If you just blew through Sedona you missed out, lots of stuff to do there.
Flagstaff is also a cool little town, we found a brewery there last time and will probably stop in on the way to Sedona from the Canyon again.
Not really excited about Vegas, it's my first time but I figured we can entertain ourselves easily for 48 hours. We are at the Venetian for a conference and it sounds like we'd be ok without even leaving the hotel while we are there.
Trying to figure out what restaurant to book for our Weds night pre Cirque dinner.

Silverton casino (not on strip) used to have a mermaid swim in its aquarium. Might be neat for kids.
