Dominate: Tavien Feaster knows how to grab a starting spot
Dominate. That’s the word of the spring for rising sophomore running back Tavien Feaster, who is hoping to use spring practice as a springboard to future success. Feaster knows it won’t be easy – he blames himself for his lack of playing time last season – but says he has the right mindset to be the replacement for departed starter Wayne Gallman. I have been saying since we signed him that after DW left i felt like Bryant would actually be our QB1 with Feaster as RB1 and you will see a lot more Read option plays and more of a run heavy spread offense. This will allow Johnson and Lawrence to compete head to head for the starting spot in 2018. The wild card here is Cooper. If he comes in slinging rockets and being the Brain behind center that this offense thrives on then I don't know what to expect for the next three seasons but it will be great.
Also, hearing Jeff Scott say that our offense will still look the same 80% of the time, but we will notice differences only makes me think we will see a lot of fast speed option plays.
If Bryant does win the starting job, I believe our offense will look more like Auburn 2013 than we did with DW at the helm, just to play to our strengths. How many other teams have a guy that knows the playbook (Bryant) who runs a 4.4 40, and a RB who is 200+ and runs a 4.3 40???
Just something to ponder.

Which was my biggest concern about him. Don't get wrong, he's a great kid with a good family, but like any good athlete in High School, he's been treated like a Prima Donna. Let's face it, he isn't just a good athlete, he is a world class athlete, so he had world class pampering. I knew it was going to take him time to adjust to the "Real World", that wasn't centered around him at Clemson. It was going to go one of two ways. He bought into it and was "All In", or he wouldn't be able to do it and would transfer being a prima donna. To me, reading between the lines, last year was the last step in his transition to being ALL IN. It may have taken the NC, or being pushed by Choice and Fuller, or just simply maturing under Dabo's leadership while being mentored by Gallman. This is EXACTLY what happens to young men when they come to Clemson and commit. When they are ALL IN. Everyone on the outside wants to know what makes Clemson special. We keep hearing it's a special place. This is what makes it special. I can't wait to see Mr. Feaster now that he has matured and is ALL IN. Spot the Ball. I can't wait.

There isn't a close second on the team.

You'll realize that later. He could easily play WR and thrive.

It takes more to getting PT than having good hands.

You'll realize it all later as you watch him through the next couple of years though about how great of hands he has out of the backfield. He is over the top.

The ones I saw seemed he was more a receiver than runner.

Exactly! That was another one of my concerns for him. He was so fast, and played like a receiver so much, that the kid seldom got really hit hard. I was worried about his ability to take the numerous hits it takes to play with the big boys. I think he has already learned like most WR and good RB, how to turn or maneuver at the last second so as to lessen the blow. Great athlete. You people that are down playing his pass catching abilities obviously never made it to Spartanburg for a game.

Although with fewer touches, Feaster had higher yards per carry his freshmen year than Dalvin Cook his freshman year.
Freshman Yards Per Carry
Tavien Feaster: 5.97 ypc
Dalvin Cook: 5.92 ypc
The best is yet to come!
