FSU fans seeing the light

How funny is this to see FSU fans saying things like this:
"This is what happens when you’re renting players, not developing and building a culture from ground up year after year. Once the luster wears off, those guys aren’t as invested," one wrote.
"This is why I detest the transfer portal, this team has quit," another said.

In August FSU fans were cheering Norvell for using the portal and Clemson fans were berating Dabo for not using the portal.

The one thing that nobody has ever heard me say a word about Dabo is his reasoning for not using the portal, and that is bc I totally 100% percent understand his reasoning. The very 1st question someone should ask themselves about the guys in the portal, why are they in the portal.
I believe that the most of them are in the portal is bc they weren't getting a reasonable amount of playing time, and they saw and practiced with most of the players that were a head of them on the roster, and they saw themselves as maybe not getting a chance to play for longer than they were willing to wait so they leave.
I would be willing to bet that there are very few portal guys that went into the portal to get paid, or to get paid more money than they may have been getting at the school that they were with before jumping into the portal, and the ones that did leave for that reason, they are very very few of them that did leave for more money. As a whole most of them went into the portal wanting to try and get playing time.
With schools like Clemson that recruit and bring in players that are highly talented and play at a high level, it will be hard to find a portal player that would come in and play in front of the talent that's already there, and a coach finds a portal player that can come in and start, those are the very few guys that most schools NIL package can not afford to get those types of talent from the portal bc they are after large amounts of money, and those types of talent is what make Dabo's way the best way, and that's to recruit them out of high school and coach them up, and the ones that can't be coached up enough to start over the guys on the roster, they haven't lost a lot of money on those guys and they will usually hang around and be satisfied as a 2nd or 3d team guy and that's just the facts about recruiting from HS or the portal, and recruiting from the HS's saves a lot of money that may not be in the NIL bank to begin with, not that is worth risking on a high price portal guy...
Listen to this video, it kind of tells about the dangers of forking out a bunch of NIL money for players...

Unless the TP guys were in FCS and wanted a shot at the big boys, then good for them joining the portal. But most of the guys in P4/5 joining the portal are looking for playing time or $$$ 90% of the time. There are times when coached leave or guys may get seriously homesick, but mostly its that they want more money or aren't starting.
Culture is huge in sports.

the dangers of a high portal use have always been evident before what is happening to FSU to anyone who has paid attention.
Just like anyone who has paid attention to Clemson knows that the portal would not have made much of difference in 2022 & 2023 for a coach that operates within the rules.

To not use the TP at all is like fighting with one arm tied behind your back. To go all-out in the TP and not use high-level recruiting as the foundation for a football team makes it impossible to build a consistent program with a winning culture.
Neither extreme is workable in the long term for contending for championships.

IF he really believes it will help, and there is no better alternative, then I believe he will selectively consider it. We did put out 3 offers for OL last year so at least we made an effort. The man is clear about his plan and his purpose, and no amount of second guessing is going to change that.
For now, this horse is quite dead...
