We may never win another National Championship

Jan 11, 2022, 5:09 AM

In our lifetimes, but if we do I guarantee it won’t be because we had two shots at the same team or a do over.

We may not but I believe the chances we do, outweigh the chances we don’t. People never thought we would never win another one after 1980 but we did and ref difference is Dabo Swinney.

He instilled the attitude that “The Best Is The Standard” and i players bought into it. Look at this year. We started at 2 in 2, then ended up at 10 in 3. We accomplished this by the players never giving up. Then when the injuries mounted up, “The Next Man Up” went into play and the Tigers climbed the mountain to 10 wins.

I know we are looking at different times with the Portal and the NIL, but I will NEVER say “Little Ole Clemson” CANNOT DO IT……

GO TIGERS!!!!!!!

I agree hartins and TigerSheriff. Dabo will continue to build his program based of the right priorities. We cannot compete with those willing to dance with the devil and accept the devil’s way of doing things.

IMO I do not think the first college poll should be allowed until after the 5th week of the season. Preseason polls are never very accurate but yet they influence the CFP committee’s top 4 teams. If your is not in the top 15 teams in the first poll it’s very difficult to move up into the top 4 teams ranked by CFP committee. Waiting until after the 5th week would the CFP committee to look at several factors. SOS, Quality Wins, Quality loses, future schedule, among other factors. For example Clemson who started out in the top 4 held the current National Champs to 3 offensive points and 7 points scored by their defense. Their other loses we what I would consider Quality loses.

The only poll that should really matter or even be allowed is the CFP committee poll. The committee should consist of people who actually played the sport or was or is a current AD.

The CFP committee should limit 1 team per conference. Teams like ND should be forced to join a conference to qualify for the CFP’s.

With conference expansion out of control the useless , weak, outdated NCAA needs to act decisively and stop the SEC from continuing to expand. Texas alone will bring more money into a conference that is already bringing in more TV money than any other conference.

NIL and the TP need more restrictions and should have a committee unrelated to college athletics to monitor and set up guidelines for NIL ???? and the TP. Kids should not be able to enter the TP anytime of the year and should be limited to use of the TP 1 time. To use the TP there should be a list of strict guidelines as to use of the TP. These are immature kids who need boundaries. Adults with some smarts should work with the kids (athletes), college AD’s and coaches, HS’s and family members should all have some level of input to these guidelines.

College Football is in the worst chaotic condition I have ever seen it. The teams and conferences with the money are controlling the direction of College Athletics which they benefit from. Booster’s should be excluded from involvement in NIL or the TP. Severe consequences should be in place for those booster’s who violate any rules set up to minimize their involvement in college athletics.

Right now we have a stampede going on in college sports that have serious future consequences if changes are not made very soon. I wonder if college athletics has already crossed the point of no return. Education, responsibility, discipline, guidance by the coaches, and priorities are losing out to winning at any cost and for the kids it’s how much NIL ???????? can I make.

Eventually Congress is going to be pressured to intervene and that is much worse than having the NCAA in control (????). When has the government ever taken over anything they have not screwed up while lining their pockets with taxpayer $$$$$$$. Basically college football is now a minor league football league. The teams happen to be associated with a college or university. I don’t see many winners if college athletics continues on the current path.

If this is what many fans want at least have the guts to call it what it is. Money for play, minor league athletics and those parents chasing the NIL don’t act like you are concerned about your kids future education and what they will do when the ?????? dries up.

Heard a comment last night about a Georgia/Alabama

Jan 11, 2022, 5:30 AM

domination of future CFP's, and my immediate thought was you better hope that doesn't happen!

No way will the other P5's put up with that kind of scenario every year under the current, four-team concept! Now, in fairness to both teams that is precisely why I preferred an eight-team model, so that two great teams from one conference could be included without controversy.

I believe the CFP Committee itself should establish the early season poll, while making a strong statement that other polls, including the AP and Coaches', are void. Secondly, the Committee should maintain that poll throughout the season, adjusting accordingly. AND media junkalists like ESPN, etc. should stick to broadcasting games while keeping their dammmm opinions off the air and out-of-print!

but ESPN owns the playoff, this is known right?

Jan 11, 2022, 7:34 AM [ in reply to Heard a comment last night about a Georgia/Alabama ]

It was established by ESPN and owned by ESPN. They are going to have their say.

Yeah, I don't see two teams from the ACC getting in unless they expand it to 12 teams...
