His appointment as radio czar is beyond me. He has a horrible voice, he went to appalachian state, and Clemson deserves much better.

I actually think Munson does ok and better than some and he is a good guy. I think Roy Philpott might do ok. Better voice and he is a Clemson guy.

just my opinion.. but i don't think munson is anything other than about average.. not great, not so bad. driving to and from our games, i tend to listen to others teams broadcasts on XM... and i just don't see that any school's broadcast teams are significantly better or worse than ours. again, just my opinion. but i will say he is better than todd ellis.

I like him. We listened to him twice this year because our power was off so no game on tv. He does a good job. The radio crew is much better than it used to be.

Heck, his support for Clemson is clearly evident, but he needs replacing ASAP! When your principal radio voice cannot properly pronounce the word "Carolina" by leaving out the letter O it is pretty pathetic. He lives here!
Jim Philips was great in the 1980s, but had lost his edge by the Bowden era. While I liked Pete Yanity, I doubt he returns after how he was treated.
Time to let Munson handle other media assignments and hire a voice with clear skills and sharper announcing of games.

While I don't think he is outstanding, I also don't think he is bad. It's radio, so it doesn't matter much anymore with all football games being on TV.
In terms of outstanding broadcasting, that would be Tony Castricone who does our basketball PBP. He is great and I hope we keep him for a long time.

Basketball PBP not that good, IMO. Too much verbiage. The best callers know when to talk and when not to, and say it just one way. Just shows how subjective this is, though, b/c I like Munson.

I have suggested Mark Hauser who is the play by play announcer for the Wofford Terriers. Plus he use do be the PA announcer for the Greenville Braves.

How about his call last night Watson returning a punt repeatedly saying his name and then he apologized. He seems to emphasize hash marks so much and never describes yardage gains worth a hoot
I wish they could grab Wes Durham but he's not leaving the Falcons although he still was the voice of the Jackets same time

..Don also...it helps to listen to other team crews for a good comparison: Ohio State's bunch sounds like they're calling a tennis match, no emotions whatsoever. Georgia's guy is a condencending turd. And of course Toad Ellis and company are the ultimate homers/homos. Iowa's guy is just a "screamer", sounds like someone's being murdered during every play... ....

Don Munson is much better than Pete Yanity (PY).
It was very difficult to follow the game when called by PY. Since PY seldom got the spot of the ball right, then the yards-for-a- firstdown were then wrong. Then the yards gained would be wrong, and then the yards-for-a-firstdown would be wrong again. PY was a terrible play-by-play caller.

with play by play. It's Gary Hahn, Tony Haynes, and others. Our local newstalk, WWNC, carries NCSU's football and basketball broadcasts and I'll listen to them for Clemson games if I can't pick up 93.3.
I remember Jim Phillips, and I really miss Pete Yanity and Will Merrit (they were great!), but Munson is starting to grow on me a little and maybe he'll hit his stride and be great.
I hope so because I think we may be locked in for a while whether we like it or not.
