Is the SEC using Finebaum to protect it from

Litigation? It seems like every time the SEC makes additions they make a really big deal about “not looking to expand, we’re happy as is, the SEC doesn’t need to expand, the school called us, blah, blah, blah”. Now we have strong talk about ACC schools potentially changing conferences and the SEC mouthpiece starts downplaying the top brands.
There is NO WAY the SEC wants the BIG10 moving into their footprint. I believe Clemson, FSU, Miami, and UNC all move to the SEC just as Jim Donnan said last July.

Finebaum is most likely just parroting what he's being told by SEC sources.
So yes, in a way they are probably feeding him some half-truths. Each time the SEC has expanded they've denied being in discussions with future member schools right up until making it public.

B.B., you've stated exactly what I've believed all along:

why in the world would the SEC want the B1G tiptoeing around in their backyards, gaining any more national exposure than they already have?
Imagine annual games in the Deep South, featuring Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, etc., particularly in Clemson, Miami, Tallahassee, for starters. Only a peaheaded, knucklebrained moron would support that kind of scenario.
South Carolina would rightly object to Clemson's inclusion, as would Florida against FSU and/or Miami. But I suspect the arguments for would supercede those objections.

College Football is stronger when there are regional rivalries.
Both the SEC and Big Ten would benefit $$$ if there was a regional overlap between the two conferences.
