I would reckon that it is like that with just about every conference. Maybe not that way every year.
There will always be about 4 teams or a few teams at the top in each conference with good or very strong records and then you have the lower half.

imo stoops is feeling a little big 12 pressure. they only have 10 teams and will most likely have to go to at least 12. not many options. look at his record at ou against sec, not good at all. plus he has a horrible bowl record. made a bunch of changes in his staff this year and needs to get better. i think most all conferences are top heavy.

The SEC is without a doubt the best conference in CFB.
Who cares?
I pull for a team, not a conference.
The ACC has been 1st or 2nd in basketball, hasn't done much for our basketball program.
The problem is when these fans of teams like Scar that haven't contributed to the success of the SEC start thinking they are "on another level" because of their conference affiliation.
The SEC had been one of the worst in college basketball, you think Kentucky gives a ####?

There's two way to look at conference comparisons, top to bottom and bottom to top.
Looking at the SEC top to bottom the first two teams of any other conference will have their hand's full dealing with the top SEC teams. Middle of the pack, it's hands down the SEC. Who really cares about the bottom of the SEC or any other conference?
Who gives a crapola if UK beats Dook?
Look at it from bottom to top and cut off the top three teams and run the matchups and you'll find that the SEC still fairs better than any others.
I'm not an SEC fan. I'm a Tiger through and through. If the SEC fell off the football map and went the way of the Big East I'd ROTFLMFAO, but, the SEC is the most powerful football conference right now.
Boob Stops is a maroon cause he's wrong about this and Tom Hanks is a good actor. Did you notice he didn't mention Iowa State? That's a team that would struggle with Duke and would go down like a chicken head if UK came to town.

not sure that i agree. t a&m and usuc are prime examples

a&m was mid-level in the 12, and came in the top 1/4 in the sec, and usuc can beat the middle of the pack teams in the sec, but not the top dogs (even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then, if it isn't killed by something higher up the food chain), which right now is 'bama, and lsu. uga, usuc,a&m,and uf are good, not great, which encompasses the majority of d-1 cfb.

I think our differences are due to matchups.

The Big 12 is a finesse conference as is the Pac. SEC and B1G are mostly power run football and don't play passing so much. Clemson was that way in the 80s.
The teams in the finesse conferences can defend finesse football better cause they face them every weekend. Likewise for the power running teams.
I think we see this differently because we have different methods to make evaluations.
I think Johnny Football was lucky the SEC didn't see him coming. As the HUNH offense makes it's mark on NCAA football those dual threats will be held in check a little better.
You know half the SEC is after Watson? They know things are changing and the good coaches are ready to make the move.

a&m just got better coaching and a hell of a first year qb. as long as sumlin is coaching there they will not be middle of the pack or lower in any conference. he also has made some serious inroads recruiting against texas. some of that has to do with the sec but most has to do with how his offense plays the game. and now a&m has even more money than before.

Texas A&M also had a very easy schedule yet lost to 2 of the 3 decent teams they played. They have an extremely easy schedule again this year and should be able to reach double digit wins again, although they may lose one or two to the Miss schools and Arky.
