Got my new modem and router set up last night. +1 to robertn
Now, I was reminded of another question. 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz, which one should I use? More specifically, what devices should I have on each?
Here's what I have:
2 phones 1 laptop 2 chromecasts 2 Fire sticks 1 printer 2 thermostats

Broadcast with both. 5ghz has more limited range, most

newer devices can use both. Set the 2.4 ghz and 5ghz to use the same SSID.
5 ghz is marginally faster in real-world applications.

So, name both networks the same with the same password?
Devices will do the work of choosing after that?

Yes.
For instance, my macbook will choose to use the 5ghz connection when the signal strength is stronger, and when further from router, it will choose the 2.4ghz connection.
5ghz is much less crowded, so if you're closer to the router, it will provide more reliable connection.
For anything in the same room as the router, streaming boxes, etc. try to use ethernet cable.

Depends on how far away said devices are from the router. 5 ghz is supposed to be faster, but has less range. So if your router is near any of your streaming sticks and laptop, go 5 ghz, otherwise 2.4 will be fine (for range purposes).
