Our team has 5 kids who can potentially hit the ball and 4 kids who are really bad/scared of getting hit. Our 8 and 9 guys haven't swung the bat all year.

We're down 1 in the last inning. Our 3 hitter gets leadoff triple. They intentionally walk the 4 and 5 hitters to load the bases with no outs.

3 straight strikeouts to the kids who just stand there to end the game.

For sure the right baseball strategy, but the first time I've seen an intentional walk in 2 years at the rec level. The parents of the kids were pretty embarrassed but fortunately we've got super nice families.

That’s when you introduce the younguns to the concept of a pinch hitter and shuffle the line up so your 1 or 2 hitter comes up to bat.

Sr in high school, we had this oversized special ed fella named Jaquavious or some #### on the team who couldn't really field a pop fly to save his life, but in practice he would hit dingers over the wall. Just absolute retardstrength. He's hit line shots and even grounders so hard it would make kids jump outta the way.

Inevitably, when he got the chance to bat, he would just sit there and watch 3 straight pitches go right over the plate for the backwards K. Infuriating.

(slight brag here... ok, huge brag) My son is about the only pitcher in his league who doesn't walk 80% of the batters faced. I asked what he did, because it finally clicked. He said he stopped trying to throw as hard as he could.
