There was a time when going to the NIT made a lot of sense especially if a team had young players needing more game experience. Now with the transfer circus why bother? Coaches don’t even know who is on their team for next year. So, coaches have to focus on recruiting their existing roster plus working the transfer portal. Why would a school pay lots of money to send players to a lesser tournament when half the team just wants to leave for the highest bidder?
