Anybody noticed that 90% of TX's big runs were to the right side? Hoffler and Denhoff in particular were getting destroyed. There was no improvement until they moved Woods back to DE. However, Wes was way too slow to make the adjustment. Hopefully the guy from Purdue fixes the issues on the right side.

you need more than one portal guy to fix it, there will still be 0 depth there behind starters next year. Hoffler, denhoff, lawson are not talented big time ends and never will be. we need help at DE, LB, and also safety big time in a hurry to fix this mess. Terrell cant play any worse so i still have hopes for him and barnes to improve . they both have been bad this year.

and lacked that fire when he was giving off during his initial opportunity to play. I wonder if he's been compromised already by other teams.. reminds me alot of how Mukuba went from fired up and making plays to just loafing and exhibiting poor body language

I completely appreciate Woods athleticism and ability to play DE. But there is no way he would be there unless he HAD to be. With that build and quickness and he could be a Dexter Lawrence or Wilkins type of player, either absorbing double teams or blowing up gaps or both. Hopefully he gets freed up to do that next year because that's his NFL future and where he belongs.

I think he is going to be forced to continue to play both as we have absolutely nothing outside of Parker and possibly Heldt at DE for the foreseeable future. Unless we get an all world recruit or transfer that can contribute immediately. I cannot believe we did not get someone out of the portal last year, its like we focused in on OL and forgot about everything else late last year.....

Woods hasn’t shown anything all year, no matter the position. He needs to get stronger and lose the bad weight.
Our defense has gotten soft, we don’t hit or tackle.

That’s because the entire defense lacks development, there is little to no adjustments made during games, and tackling just sucks. With the exceptions of Woods and Brown, this D is soft and has no aggressiveness.

Yeah, talent is lacking compared to the likes of Wilkins, Ferrell, Bryant, Lawrence, Simmons….but what we do have is making basic fundamental mistakes that players at this level shouldn’t be making. Whether it’s a Denhoff or a Wilkins, they should know how to not get manhandled like a Pop Warner team.

Watch Denhof carefully: he ALWAYS dips his head and shoulders, giving offensive tackles great leverage. that's why he's completely ineffective on contain. Amazing that our "cOaCHiNg" staff can't see what's going on.

Literally the ONLY thing, er I should say your Primary responsibility as a DE is to NOT LoSE Contain.
They (our DE) are just not up to it when we face any OL of any higher quality.

All that being said….
We are not the only football team to have a week link at DE. There are things you can do with splits, techniques, and linebacker run fits that can compensate for this
You expose yourself to 5 yard runs up the middle but you eliminate 77 yard touchdown runs
