My dad always liked the shootist when we were kids but we liked big Jake, the cowboys, el dorado, several others. As I’ve gotten older the shootist has become maybe my favorite.

non-western his character was shown dying in was The Sands of Iwo Jima. It happened so seldom, I always wondered if he had some type of agreement with the studio.

I might've missed you posting it, but my favorite western is Pale Rider. I also think it's my first rated R movie I saw. Could have been Sudden Impact, not sure which one came out first.

I think Big Jake and Rio Lobo are two of the best movies ever made. I read somewhere that out of the approximately 170 movies he was in he was the Star in over 155 of those movies.
I don’t believe there will ever be another John Wayne !
