Opinions on a REEL mower?....

for the first time, TopTen has a nice bermuda yard. Looks good, but with a normal mower, just MEH.
I've seen a few houses in the neighborhood using reel mowers, and holy cow yards look like a nice golf course fairway.
Should I pull the trigger on one? Looks like California Trimmer and Tru-Cut are the preferred models. $2,500 new, but can find decent ones for $700 or so used.
Anyone with experience on these? Pros/Cons?

I just want a good 200cc that isnt self propel. I like pushing and I think the self propel tears up the grass. Really hard to find a good one.
My grass is so thick, I need that extra power in the push mower and there is no way I would ever buy a riding lawnmower.

so this is experience from large-scale mowers - greensmowers, fringe mowers, fairway gang mowers, etc, not the small push-type. They may be simpler, I don't know.
If you get dandilions or grass/weeds taller than the axle of the reel, it just bends it over, doesn't cut it.
LOTS of maintenance on the blades, keeping them functional. Lots of lubrication. Gears and bearings. Debris damage and reel jams from sticks and pebbles. And not fun sharpening those blades. Ugh, constant sharpening.
