2022 rank was 22. (Goodwin) 2023 rank was 32. 2024 rank is 68.
I’ve been screaming fire Goodwin since 2022. So many blind cheerleaders kept saying I trust CDS. When we finish ranked triple digits this year, I’m going to say I told you so.
You can’t give an analyst or GA a big time college football coordinator job. Goodwin's best resume fact was working for Bruce Arians. Teams like Georgia State hire a Wes Goodwin. Clemson hires a Brent Venables, Jim Knowles, or Will Muschamp.
It’s not just Goodwin. It’s Cole Stoudt at offensive player development. Tyler Grisham at wr coach. Mickey Conn, Will Swinney and other nepotism hires. This experiment failed. The on-field product has declined steadily since the 44-16 beatdown of little Nicky.
Hire the best position coaches and coordinators money can buy. We can afford it. We aren’t Georgia State. That’s how Dabo won two Natty’s and had winningest senior classes in college history. That’s how we do it again. Clean the cupboard and raid others.

Losing at home to SCar might wake some people up.

Meaning the last time we beat them at home was 2018.

we've had some bad showings the last 4 seasons that have done nothing to change those fans minds..........I figured at the very least a blowout loss to Duke last year would've done it.............this year a Blowout loss to UGA didn't do it.

A blowout loss to UL might wake folks up. If we stop donating until changes are made people will listen. That’s what it took to get Hatfield fired. And Bowden.

The decline in our defense’s performance is directly proportional to the decline in top end talent throughout the defense.
2021: B.Bresee (not counting him, since he got hurt),Myles Murphy, Ruke, T.Davis (hurt a lot, but still played), X.Thomas (missed a lot of time), T.Simpson, Spector (made it to NFL), Makuba, Andrew Booth. Also, although not top end talent, we had the very knowledgeable and leadership personality in J.Skalski to serve as ‘on the field coach.’
2022: B.Bressee, M.Murphy, XT, Ruke, T.Davis, T.Simpson, J.Trotter, B.Carter, Makuba (had poor year, but still top end talent for CFB), N.Wiggins (talent showed up in 2nd half of the year with his gaining experience). 10 indisputably top end players; the talent was distributed across the defense, albeit most was on the DL.
2023: Ruke, T.Davis, P.Woods, TJ Parker, XT, J.Trotter, Woodaz,B.Carter, Makuba, N.Wiggins. 10 indisputably top end players who were ready to play. Dearth of top end talent in the secondary.
2024: D.Capehart (being generous), P.Page ( being generous), T.Williams (being generous), P.Woods (but he has missed a lot of time, including last night), TJ Parker, Woodaz, B.Carter, AJ Terrell. 4 indisputably top end players, a fifth top end player who has missed more time than he’s played, and 3 ‘stretch the definition’ top end players. Only one top end DE who has played extensively - huge drop off at DE after Parker.

I’d be willing to bet the d coordinator has the most input into Jimmys and joes. Missing on talent has been an issue since BV left. Goodwin had a stocked cupboard when he took over. Not so much now. Depth is a key issue.

You would be betting wrong. You're trying to make it be an easy problem to fix. The problems with recruiting aren't just one guy.

Look at it this way......the way a 5-star top end high school defensive player looks at things. Would you have signed on to play for BV? Would you now sign on to play for Wes? Be honest.

This is exactly right. Goodwin is a mid major coordinator. Dabo’s strategy of growing coaches up through the ranks is just not working. He won two national championships because he went out and got Brent Venables. Without Venables, those championships don’t happen. I said an earlier post he’s got to dump all the Buddy hires and family hires, and start acting like a serious football coach again

Total defense was actually eighth last year if you’re referring to yards per game allowed. Scoring defense was 32nd
