and as of today, I might reluctantly agree with them. But there's a whole season to play and anything can happen.
We might just find out the truth later this year.

They will lose to Bama in seccg.
Which means they’re out. You can’t lose the conf champ game and still make CFP. At least I hope you can’t. Even if it’s us. Don’t want to see a team that already lost a post season game. Don’t think the committee does either. Final selection comes the day after that game.

Lots of teams have gotten in with a regular season loss. Also without a conference championship. Regular season records can be compared. Getting an extra game, a postseason championship game, gives you an extra chance to add to your resume. But the potential reward should come with a risk. That risk should be your championship chips are on the table. It’s postseason, for a championship, a day before final selection. If you can’t win that day you lose your chips. Why let a team in that just showed it can’t beat one of the teams who is in, on the day before selection?

Look at 2012 Bama National championship. You have LSU at 13-1 and Bama at 12-1. LSU has more wins and their only loss is to Bama. Bama also only lost to LSU. Why is Bama the champion? They won the postseason rematch. The first match was just a regular season game. Bama won when the chips were on the table. I hope that’s how the committee will view conf champ losers. I don’t want to see Bama beat Georgia and have them set up a rematch in CFP a few weeks later. Georgia had their shot. Next team up.

Bama beats UGA in a championship game and the committee sets up a rematch in the semis.
Doesn’t everyone want to seem the same team get multiple shots at Bama? Then, if the semi is a great game and the eye test says even though they lost again to Bama, UGA is better than the other semifinal winner, let’s just let them try once more in the final!

All means nothing until a head to head. I have to observe that with the exception of a good post season last year, JawJah is better about talking a good game than advancing, Clemson has been there three years. Until then, the real comparison is shared opponents. They have one more loss to shared opponents in the last year, having lost to and beat Auburn,when we just beat Auburn. They also played the dirtpeckers, and like us came away with a 24 point margin win. Not much separation.
