This entertainer and peace activist got his name from BB King in 1969. He founded the activist commune, "The Hog Farm", Camp Winnarainbow, the Seva Foundation, The Phurst Church of Phun, which was a secret society of comics and clowns worked to end the war in Vietnam.
In addition to his work as a commune founder, he is the official clown of the Grateful Dead.
He was in charge of security at Woodstock

The Phurst Church of Phun summer program.
My kids will learn the art of face painting, do some hog callin', get dosed, take a ride on the Further bus, drink kombucha, and even get to see a live concert by the surviving members of Peter, Paul, and Mary.. which apparently is just Peter and Paul.

Wavy Gravy called his group the "Please Force," a reference to their non-intrusive tactics at keeping order, e.g., "Please don't do that, please do this instead". When asked by the press—who were the first to inform him that he and the rest of the Hog Farm were handling security—what kind of tools he intended to use to maintain order at the event, his response was "Cream pies and seltzer bottles" (both being traditional clown props). In Gravy's words: "They all wrote it down and I thought, 'the power of manipulating the media', ah ha!"
So unless you want to get creampied, you better behave yourself!
