every year. I have to agree that traveling would be easier, but I see this to be totally unbalanced in the near future. FSU will make a comeback and then the two best teams will still be in the same division.

Agree. It's past time to realign the divisions...

...and even change the names. Coastal and Atlantic make zero sense. Last time I checked Coastal means near the coast, and Atlantic refers to the exact same body of water. Is North and South such a bad idea? I mean the ACC is the Atlantic Coast Conference for goodness sakes. That kinda takes care of the whole "Coast" and "Atlantic" thingy.

Yankee/Lacrosse Division: BC UNC Duke UVA Sorrycuse VT Pitt
Works for me. The Yankee/Lacrosse division is mostly the old Big East school and since Dook and the Tarholes are bball schools they will fit right in

as it does now. My mentioning of b-ball was due to the fact that the other schools in the Yankee division are similar in that they are better known as b-ball schools as opposed to FB schools.
Don’t think the realignment would create a football imbalance as it’s us and everyone else right now anyway. All it does is swap BC and Cuse with GT and Miami.

and everyone twice, home and away, in b-ball. I really don’t like playing teams like UNC in FB once every 8 yrs or whatever crazy system we have now.
I would like to see 8 team divisions with Norte Dame +1 (Navy, App St.), 7 divisional games, 2 cross division games, and 3 OOC. I don’t have a problem with a Wofford, Furman, Citadel type game once a year as long as it’s an in-state school. But that probably makes too much sense which is why it most likely never happen

I liked it better when there was a 10 team maximum in in any league. Conference championships really meant something. It's too big today; just a bloated money grab today.

FSU will get back to what they were 4 or 5 years ago, and I don't think they should be in the same division as us. Imagine how good the ACC championship game would be with the old FSU and Clemson. Also have VT and Miami in different divisions!!!

Miami on the same side. 3 reasons: 1.) You would never have an attractive ACCCG matchup and the Atlantic would almost surely win ever one from here to Kingdom come. 2.) If Miami and FSU reach their potential, the 3 powers would destroy each other an we’d end up looking like the coastal and killing our playoff shots (we don’t get help from the media like the SEC and they would never promote that “brutal ACC Atlantic schedule). 3.) apply the same logic to the coastal division for basketball.

I for one have long thought that the ACC should realign into a North and South Division. However, I see it slightly different than you based on the fact that both Duke and UNC want, and need to remain in the same division. So I would keep all the Tobacco Road schools plus Miami, FSU, and Clemson in the South, and move both Virginia, Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech(which is our natural cross-divisional opponent anyway)into the North.

That’s a stupid idea. Put all the traditional football powers in one side of a conference. Great setup for Syracuse.
I’d rather they move them around every year based on the prior year’s results....
1,4,6,8,10,12,14 in one side 2,3,5,7,9,11,13 in the other.
There are NO great rivalries in the ACC that a sacred cows.

Your definition of "great rivalry" seems a bit too narrow for this discussion.
What we're talking about is either longstanding (e.g. Clemson-GT) or division/conf. championship-determining (Clemson-FSU, recently).
Doesn't have to be Michigan-OSU to be "great" in that sense.

The existing alignment was surprising, for I thought

the powers-that-be would create more of a north-south version.
Nothing whatsoever against Louisville, but even more surprising was the effete elitism that offered Pitt and completely disregarded their long-standing rival, West Virginia, with the expansions. It took direct intervention (and direct threats) by the Governor of Virginia to obtain the invitation to VT. Then, claiming academic deficiency, the ACC ignored the Mountaineers only to turn right around later with an offer to Louisville. Frankly, those moves only served to reenforce my longheld contempt for the conference.
Regardless, I support your thoughts and placement of teams. Good job!

Original Division
Clemson Duke GT NCSU UNC UVA Wake
Extra Crispy
BC FSU Louisville Miami Pitt Syracuse Va. Tech
Make FSU our cross division rival. UVA gets VT...then figure out what to do with the rest.
Geography still factored in, but the northern teams make an annual trip to Florida.

It is up to the other schools to up their game, especially the Coastal. We can't help much with that other than bringing in viewers and CFP $. I think UNC and VT could be beginning a surge and UVA shows potential then shoots it's self in the foot. Satterfield could improve Louisville in the Atlantic. FSU ?

Don't hold your breath. They will not change anything but can't get any worse. What have they got to lose establishing better regional rivalries and more directional divisions.Actually might make the conference better.

Might be a good idea for non-revenue sports to save money, and travel time for the students. The non-revenues are different anyway with the addition of the 'domers for those sports.

I would like one division where everyone has three permanent rivals and you rotate the other five games among your ten remaining opponents. You would play everyone at least every other year. You would play your biggest rivals every year. We would get FSU, GT, and NC State. Top two play for the ACC title. I don’t like the old days of playing the same eight teams every year, personally. I thought it got kind of boring. I like a trip to Boston, Blacksburg, or Pittsburgh sprinkled in there.
