Spent two hours at the DMV this morning.

Tried to get a tag for my boat trailer so I can drag it through Flarduh without getting pulled by the their police.
It was like I asked how to enrich uranium for a bomb. They had a huddle up to figure out what I was asking. Then I explained it to them again, and they had no idea what to do. The SC DMV website says to get a SC tag from the DMV that I won't have to pay taxes on every year from SC DMV for like $20.
DMV said they want my trailer MSO and original bill of sale. I bought that trailer in 2017..what difference does it matter how much it cost? They want to convert my MSO to an SC title...which tells me, "if it has a title, they are going to charge property taxes on on it".
I also tried to get my tag transferred to my new truck from my old truck. They said they need a copy of the title to do that. You mean a title that I don't have since the truck is a < a week old? But they were able to give me a temporary tag? If they can do that from a bill of sale, why can't they transfer an existing tag to the new truck??
I guess I'll go back for round 2 next week.

MSO for the trailer.
They are all back at the office telling everyone about the guy that came in without an MSO and more than likely you didn't have the VIN handy either.

Getting pulled over in Flarduh?

In the keys? There's about a 50% opportunity of that happening WITHOUT pulling a boat. But dragging a boat through all of Flarduh and THEN the Keys? That's about a 20% chance of NOT getting pulled over.
Aside from the $75 boat ramp fees, how do you think they make their money down there?

Penalties for Unregistered Motor Vehicle Charges The most common penalty you’ll face for failure to register the vehicle in Florida is a citation (ticket). But you can be penalized with any or all of the following:
A fine of up to $500 Up to 60 days in jail Up to six months probation or community control Unfortunately, the police officer can also issue you a Notice to Appear and even arrest you for the violation.
During the stop, the law enforcement officer will consider other factors when deciding what action to take against you. They include:
Level of cooperation Open warrants Prior arrests Further, you can also receive this misdemeanor charge under Florida Statute 320.261 if you knowingly attach a registration license plate that was not lawfully assigned to you.

I can return with my BOS (if I can find it) for my 8 year old trailer, explain to the SC DMV what their website says, argue with them about NOT taxing my boat trailer, or I can spend 14 hours driving and getting pulled over in Florida to explain to the cop(s) that I'm from SC, we don't require a trailer tag in SC, (but the SCDMV website does note that a tag is required if towing out of state) then arguing with said Florida cop about not getting a fine for not having a tag IN Florida.
Pick my poison, huh?

conversation with the officer and not be penalized....if you were to get stopped.
I trailer out of state occasionally without a tag.
Also, I saw their titling requirement was >2000 lbs. I assume your trailer is under that limit but not sure if titling and plating are the same thing in FL.
Vaya con Dios.

I hit 71 mph the other day with warm temps, 2 people, and lots of tackle with the flash.
Previously, I hit 64 mph, one person, no tackle, cold temps.
Same prop.
I know I could get more out of it with a different prop, but I don't really want more out of it right now.

I'd think about it in something with some mass like a 42'-47' Freeman. But what's a 19' boat weigh? 1500#? 2000#?

takes two seconds to tell the officer that you're originally from SC and that's why your trailer doesn't have a plate.
Seems like those types of laws would only be for people who live there since it's based on taxes.
But we can ask our resident juvinile delinquent tigermanac®

They could be more problematic in certain areas like the Keys, and then they might not care. Could be dependent on the officer based on my limited reading.

I don't trust cops to not have ulterior motives, especially in Volusia county. I may not have a perm tag on my truck by then, either.
I'd be a rolling "pick me" sign to a 25 year old cop with a badge, a gun and an attitude.

Thats all that kind of stuff EVER is.
I've known of more than one person to be stopped for something stupid going through Volusia county and come out the other side several thousand $ poorer. I knew one dude that was relieved of about $2K Spartanburg county style after an illegal search for getting pulled over for speeding. I think he's STILL trying to get that money back.
And that's not even getting into Monroe county.
I'm not effing around with Flarduh cops. Cops here already don't like me.

Me and cops don't get along. I can't count how many times I've been needlessly harassed by them.
I'll do pretty much whatever I need to do to avoid talking to or even being near a cop. It always costs me time and/or money I don't want to spend. I've gone my whole life and never needed a cop, yet I've had an inordinate amount of interactions with them.
I feel sure that driving through Florida with no tag on my boat trailer and a 4" x 6" Illinois temporary truck tag taped to the inside of my rear tinted window will guaranty me a stop and the ensuing nonsense that would come from that.
