I see posts about what a great job our new baseball coach is doing and I hope we finish strong. The bias of people is so strong and overrules the facts. After 43 games this year, we are 27-16 and last year under Monte Lee we were 29-14. Better job this? Not yet but I hope it will turn out that way.

You lack context. The players were not having fun. Team moral was so low it was visible to the fan base.
This team has grown and is having fun. You can see it and feel the energy.
Not like last year when hardly any high-fives were given. Virtually no teammate support from the dugout. No one picking each other up after a missed play. Just mindless zombie going through the motions baseball.
But from your post I can tell you didn’t watch a lick of Clemson baseball last year. You just googled something to create a dumb coot like post to try and make you coot coach look good.

Loo, I believe Lee was a good coach for us, at least during the 2015-2019 seasons.
Our problem with Lee towards the end of his time here was we never got better during the season. We often started very well, but then leveled out and dropped in the last half. That’s the type of season that kills motivation for guys. Like Grice who was near useless for most last season and then much of this season.
Bakich is showing a real true ability to make these guys better. Regardless of how the rest of season goes, I am more than happy to see us reach this point after the poor start we had. But I also don’t expect us to not make the tournament. I honestly think we’re too good to not make it.

Bakich is in his first year at the helm. The only negative that I have is he got my hopes very high with some comments (Coach speak) about this team being as talented as any team he has ever had.
Other than that, the team is having fun and coming together nicely. A big plus was the hiring of a new pitching coach. Pitching has actually improved this year. We are also more aggressive on the base path and doing a better job at the plate of manufacturing runs rather than relying on the long ball.

2022 Tigers started off like a house on fire winning their first 14 games. May have been a couple of games better at this point of the season after 43 games, but after winning the first 14 they went 15-14. We were not playing the toughest schedule last year either.
2023 Tigers started off ok but have steadily gotten better throughout the season.
Feels like this team can accomplish more than last year's team overall.
So perhaps when Bakich said this was a very talented team, he was correct. We will see.

In 2017 Monte had a coach speak moment. Beat Charleston Southern to go to 29-5 overall. We finished the season 42-21. Going 13-16 after that game.
It was his great quote saying, “We eat pressure like candy.”, after we had rallied that night. Which backs up my point about him in my other reply on this thread.
Bakich really shouldn’t go there ever. Wait until off-season. It’s almost like putting a literal 10 pound bag of pressure on everyone’s backs.

We are hitting it well. Does not seem as though it’s either a homer or bust. Not sure on the SO totals but dang they seemed too numerous last year. Lee had a few players out there that had no business seeing the field with their BA’s. Never would try some other guys out for reasons I never understood. No matter how we finish this year I do feel optimistic about the future of Tiger baseball and it’s been a few years since I could say that.

Difference is we started our 14-0 and completely crapped the bed the rest of the season. We started our bad and we’ve seen constant progress. Thill got a long ways to go but it does appear he’s starting to develop the talent we have.

News flash lee is gone and isn’t coming back. Bakich changed the culture. Bakich isn’t relying on home runs. Pitchers have gotten better and will continue under Belanger. Lee and staff didn’t develop. It’s not hard to understand and see. Bakich calls timeouts to break up the game pace and talk to his guys. Bakich is aggressive

Players got worse under Lee. Many had their best years as a freshman, then it was downhill.
However, the gamecoots now lead the nation in homers.

While I see your point, a direct comparison mid-season doesnt always tell the whole story.
A lot of us jumped to the same conclusion in 2016... Lee's first season, when they won the ACCT.
We all thought "Okay moving on from JL was the right choice.. we are back on track"
When in fact, that was actually the high point of ML time here. I like Coach Lee a lot.. my son went to some of his 1 day camps and he was really great talking to/encouraging the boys.
I dont know why it didnt work here... but this time around I want to give the new coach time before I start judging his trajectory.
I love what the team has done the last few weeks. There is a feel of momentum in the team.. so lets see what happens.

I like where this team is headed at the right time and I am glad the change at head coach was made!!! Monte is a Lamecock and took a couple of Cancers with him to USUCK!!!
