Three weeks until Upstate SC archery season opens. Had some of my last bacon burger venison off the grill last night, topped off with homegrown tomatoes and self-made dill pickles. Need to get an early season deer to replenish the freezer. Also need to take the legal limit to reach a total of 400 deer harvested over my lifetime. That's a lot of good eatin' shared with friends and neighbors - and local food banks. The statewide Farmers and Hunters Feed the Hungry also are a great way to use this resource and keep some of them off the highways and out of people's crops. But would rather take out some wild hogs and coyotes than to fill my freezer.

Flipped on outside light one night last week

and had two bucks munching on my shrubbery just a few feet from my front door - one was a young 8-pointer with a nice rack for his size and age. Can't hunt the woods he goes back to during daylight hours.

Go out in your back yard during a bright full moon.....make sure there's no man made lights around anywhere. Enjoy your meal!!

And, it was here in Greenville. I go to Saskatoon at least 2-3 times per year.



Of course, PETA did get all bent out of shape and had it removed.
