Do you agree with this chart? We mostly have WR, but occasionally other lesser knowns.

Last few bourbons I have enjoyed are all over that map and I couldn't tell

you how accurate that is. Old Grand-Dad and WT101 are the current ones in the liquor cabinet, and they exist in similar areas on this chart.

couple of observations
which old forrester? 1870 and 1910 not as spicy, 1920 is but good with distilled water drop
I'd say Taylor prob more spicy than Eagle Rare

I can't say it's wrong, for sure. My taste buds are all over the place. When it comes to bourbon, what tastes sweet and spicy one week may taste delicate and floral next week. Currently, I have a bottle of 4 Roses single barrel, and Wild Turkey Rare Breed. Just finished bottles of Old Forrester 1910 and Knob Creek 12. All different, and very good to me.

Rare Breed is still one of the best values out there.

Costco usually has the bourbon and rye for $50-55.

I mean, "rich" and "delicate" aren't opposites,

and neither are "spicy" and "sweet", so I don't really track what they're trying to capture here. Also, presumably these are all the standard large batch offerings of those distilleries, but if I bought a Jim Beam white label (for example), it's probably to make punch or something, not to pour in a glass neat. This also probably sounds like pinkies-out shit, and I'm OK with that.

that's the lingo I was looking for. I'm not nearly as sophisticated as you high brows though.
Example: I got an Elijah Craig barrel proof that was like 142 proof. spicy and rich AF.
Other Example: Russell's Reserve stuff / barrel pick stuff is very sweet to me. don't taste like WT bottom shelf at all.
Also - who TF buys all these standard bottles? Thought Beng was a high roller...

Oh, and Old Forester is WAY out of place.

Assuming you mean the regular, and not the select bottles like their Prohibition bottles, etc.

Also prefer scotch if I’m going to drink whisky which is rare, but mostly because all I taste with any bourbon is ethanol and charred oak. The lower proof ones I guess are tolerable.

Only real change I'd make is swapping Bulleit for Knob Creek, straight up. I find Bulleit to be much smoother.
After doing a flight of tastings a couple years ago, Knob Creek stood out as the spiciest of the bunch.
Oh, and Maker's Mark should only be used for mixed drinks.
