The reporting on this is weird

They're summarizing what happened with "use of a racial slur" as if he actually said it as a racial slur, rather than mentioning that somebody else did that and implying it was a bad thing. You have to actually read quite a bit of these stories to find that out, though.

I'd be uncomfortable hearing that term in any context, even if it's quoting literature.

From what I've read

It was bad enough that the firm running the racial sensitivity training quit mid session and then the board forced the founder of the company to resign and went public with it before someone else could run with the story. That seems like a god bit of smoke for there not to be a fire.

Sounds like he didn't appreciate the training

Just saying the word unnecessarily is bad enough for some of that, I'd guess. The PR/training company probably doesn't want to deal with people who are going to ignore them. And didn't they force him off the board after this was leaked and reported?
What I think is that he was viewed as a loose cannon, and that there was some kind of concerted effort to push him out using this. The fact that this happened in the spring and is just coming out now sort of adds to my perception of that.

Good question. Unverified report from tMB...
Jul 13, 2018, 5:46 PM
|
|
"So the back story here is that when this call happened there was a chief marketing officer that basically had a horrible conference call and he was talking about analytics and regeritating the same info he gave 6 months prior for they’re marketing strategy. After the call John fired him and he then went and gave the story to Forbes. Apparently they had the story about a month ago and then they started doing their due diligence a couple weeks ago and everyone in the higher ups of the company and the big franchises knew this was gonna come out in a short period of time."
The horrible spelling makes me doubt this.

Yea, not sure why a marketing officer would be talking about analytics on a conference call set up with a marketing agency to try and help the ####### founder of the company stop saying stupid ####. It's quite ironic that he got canned b/c of a call set up in an attempt to stop him from getting canned.
