Boo Corrigan allowed FSU to get screwed as punishment for them being so vocal about leaving the ACC earlier this year.

If so, and I think that's unlikely...

that's a short term 'win' for a long term loss. You think this makes FSU, and other teams who were thinking of leaving, more or less likely to want to stay in the conference?

Good point. This might even give FSU legal wiggle room to get out of contracts too. They could argue the ACC is no longer a “Power 5” conference therefore the base foundation when the contract was signed is null and void. It might seem like a weak argument, but it’s still a piece of ammunition they could use.

More motivated to go, but maybe less likely to find

somewhere to go to. Why would the B1G and the SEC, who each have a team AND a future team in the playoffs, and each with at least a couple of other teams who have made the CFP in the past, want to add other programs when they already hold all of the cards?
And to some degree, why would FSU (or Clemson) want to go, when their path gets much easier next year? Money is the only argument.
There have been 36 participants in the 4 team playoff. 14 from current and future SEC (5 different teams), 12 from current and future B1G (5 different teams), and 10 others (4 teams). And among the SEC/B1G teams who have NOT made it in this format are Florida, TAMU, PSU, USC. Why do they want to further dilute their contract $, when between them they have 10 playoff veterans and at least 4 more who will be perennial contenders in a 12 team format? They can’t get 14 SEC and B1G teams in a 12 team field.

That would be really stupid. After expenses, league schools net more money off of CFP participation than the team that actually plays. There is a cost allowance but all the participating schools overspend it. After bonuses to the coaching staff it’s a net negative to most schools.

I think it is more likely that Boo was...

.... "promised" that NCSU would soon be getting an invite to the SEC or B1G if he "agreed" that FSU should be ranked 5.
For the record, I don't believe what I just wrote to be true. Just saying it is more likely to be true than the original post in this thread.
What I do believe is true is that Boo was too weak a leader and, for whatever reason, did not fight hard enough to see that an ACC team got in.

I had the same thought myself. As chairman of the committee, how can you sit there and watch an undefeated team from your conference get left out? Unbelievable.
