I don't know who the last 3 are but why in the world would O'Sullivan leave Florida or Corbin leave Vandy to come to Clemson?

Listen coot, I know you think people will do whatever you want if enough money is offered but that is incorrect. For folks who are already wealthy other factors are in play. Leaving Vandy or Florida makes zero sense. First they are hurt over the Leggett firing and second Vandy is an endowment school who can give every player a scholarship

Van Horn and O'Sullivan make about $1.5 million/yr., and Corbin makes well over $2 million. Monte's at about $500,000. That's big-time SEC money that Clemson can't touch.

I’m sorry, but paying a baseball coach $1.5-$2 million a year is a stupid business decision.

College baseball is a sport that loses money. Paying our baseball coach 3-4 times what we are currently paying makes no sense. It would literally be taking money from football and/or basketball at Clemson - sports that make money and are higher priorities.
Baseball isn’t worth that.

It should be obvious that I was referring to men’s basketball.

Do you have a line item budget for how men’s basketball’s profits are spent? Otherwise, it’s pure conjecture that it’s spent on women’s basketball.
More importantly, it has nothing to do with the fact that baseball loses money and spending 3-4 times what we currently do on a baseball coach is illogical.

should you really be telling others what they should do? And it’s pure conjecture that the profits from men’s basketball are spent on sports other than women’s basketball.

million...so it would take at least 2 million to get him...I doubt we'll spend that much. That leaves Heefner...only 40 yrs old and not already at a power five school. Apparently he loves being at a Baptist school, being very religious, hut he's already turned down Baylor and TCU in recent years. Probably not much of a chance, unless we send Dabo out to recruit him!

Actually, I think it'd have to be Joe Torre or Dusty Baker to satisfy TNET.

Randy Mazey. Clemson alum who has done very well at West Virginia. WVU baseball didn't even have a baseball facility that met Big 12 standards (it was actually pathetic) and had to play all home conference games in Charleston for their first 2 seasons in the conference. In 2017, he led WVU to their first postseason appearance in 21 years. In 2019, WVU hosted an NCAA Regional for the first time since 1955. He has accomplished this at a school that does not have nearly the financial support, fan base, or rich baseball tradition that Clemson has. And I assure you West Virginia is no hotbed of high school baseball talent, so he's had to be an outstanding recruiter. Base salary at WVU is $250,000, so we could definitely afford him.

As always, Matt Lecroy should get a call. He is currently coaching as the AAA manager for the Nationals. He is 44 years old now and maybe he is ready to return home to the upstate? Coaching his alma mater that really needs him could be something that might interest now. I've always thought that he is the man that can fix Clemso baseball.
