This person is a grown adult. I could care less about the choice this person made.
As Speaker Johnson said, she should be treated with dignity.
Mace is grandstanding to be pushing a bill to prevent one tranny from using the female bathroom.
There are way bigger fish to fry than focusing on 1/435 House members who happens to be trans.
Additionally, she actually could pass. I’ve seen way worse looking male to female trans people.

This dude pretending it's the right that dreamed up the trans issue out of thin air is an even greater indicator of mental health issues than pretending to be a female. The left shoves this stuff down all of our throat for years and when the right finally says enough it's the right that's making it an issue? Don't ever change weirdo lefties.

openly gay people, or the mere existence of trans people that they'll never encounter in real life, it's described as "being shoved down our throats!"? What an odd tick. There are so many other possible ways to describe something you're tired of seeing, but almost every single time, you revert to the old standby of something being forcefully shoved down your throat.
It kinda makes you think.

He doesn't actually care about either one. He just blurts whatever he's told to blurt. Pick any date in the 21st century and he's going on about whatever he's told to care about at that moment.
Remember when it was Muslims? "Straight outta the 7th century!" They aren't telling him to blurt about that anymore, so he's not.

Then those people who have "lost their jobs because of reality" are in the same bucket in my view. Lack of empathy for an issue they don't understand. It's not hard to let people identify as the gender that is best for their mental health. It really isn't hard for someone with compassion, anymore than someone changing their name.
It does you precisely NO harm, and it literally saves lives.

You call it a mental illness. I agree.
Do you think all people who suffer a mental illness should be treated this way? Do you think the depressed person needs to be mocked until they act happier? Do you think the person suffering from anxiety should be ridiculed until they learn to cope with society better? Or should veterans suffering from PTSD be forced to experience fireworks and other triggering events until they learn to get over it? Maybe we should just scatter all the #### on a severe OCD person's desk until he learns to relax?

A mental illness who time and again has been shown to best be treated by allowing people's outward identity match the identity they feel.
Mental illness isn't an insult, its reality. Mocking people and intentionally misgendering them is callous and is done due to a lack of understanding and empathy.

A bill that adds...
1

Transgender people to this?
If passed, the bill (HB-4474) will overhaul the existing ethnic intimidation statute that provides protections (since 1988) against malicious or intentional intimidation and harassment because of a person’s “race, color, religion, gender, or national origin.” The bill in question adds to the list among others—gender identity or expression, and sexual orientation—as protected classes.
Under the proposed bill, “a person is guilty of a hate crime if that person maliciously and intentionally” (emphasis supplied) engages in force or violence, injures, or damages/destroys the property of another because of their race, religion, sex, and so on. As mentioned, protections would also be provided against violations related to sexual orientation and gender identity/expression.
Oh, I'm so sorry you're not going to be able to harass or intimidate or hurt transgender people in Michigan anymore because they're transgender, McMuff. That's a tough one.

Legal Analysis: Legal experts have debated the constitutionality of such a law, particularly focusing on First Amendment rights. They argue that while hate crime laws focus on conduct, not speech, the line between expression and action can be blurred in cases like misgendering.

Transitioning LITERALLY saves people's lives. I don't think it should be criminal to intentionally misgender someone (in relation to their known wishes), but I do think it says a ton about your willingness to mock what you don't understand.
Again, it does you precisely no harm to be kind.

You can be 6'5" with a 12 inch #### and wear a dress and call yourself Betty Sue. Not that many people care about that, but what people do care about is you competing in women's sports and changing in the gym locker room with their daughters and wives.
Kind of like Bill Maher said - Dems lost a Crazy Contest to an an actual crazy person.

I hear ya. I'm not going to disrespect anyone, but I'm also not going to be compelled to say a biological male is a woman. For the most part, if that person believes they're a woman, then that's their business. When I'm asked to believe that person is a woman, then that becomes my business. I will call that person Betty Sue if that's what that person says their name is, but I will not call that person a 'she or her'.

Honest question, why?
Nov 20, 2024, 2:56 PM
|

I'm not saying it should be illegal or you should be punished, but do you ask to see what's between everyone's legs before you use a pronoun?
I'm not attacking you, I am genuinely curious why you would care what gender someone else feels healthy identifying as, and why you would *intentionally* choose to not respect that. I don't get what you are winning there.

I guess I just don't see a reason to see biological sex and gender as the same thing (which scientifically and historically they have not been). It is not alie to reference someone as the gender they identify as, since that is THUS their gender. Regardless of whats between their legs.

I disagree. I think a person's actual sex is what makes them male or female (and yes I understand there are, in a very small percent of the population, both and neither), and not what that person believes they are.

Until you recognize there are folks born with one set of sex characteristics and a different identity in their head. And that time and again it's been shown that the best treatment (the one that literally saves lives) is to allow the outward apeparance to match the inner identity.

I think adults can do what they want to there. It's their business.
There are a multitude of mental illnesses in which people think they are something in their head that they are truly not.

I will call someone by whatever name that person asks me to call them. If a person changes their name from Bill to George, I will call them George - no problem.
But, no I don't believe you can turn a man into a woman or visa versa, no matter the amount of chemicals you put in them or how much surgery that person has. So, therefore I will not be compelled to call a 'he' a 'she'. And, to ask that of me would be disrespectful.

Do you see a difference in biological sex and the social construct of how those differences are seen/expressed? (For example, "females" can get pregnant vs. using blue/pink to represent sex of baby)

I think some have created a social construct that separates sex from gender. I don't believe a social construct is what makes a person a male or female.
We could have created a social construct that said boys wear pink and girls wear blue, but it wouldn't change whether they are male or female.

which serves as a good illustration of how "gender" is just a creation of society to reflect certain external expressions of "sex" differences.
To me, it's a crucial understanding that can make the transgender issue so much less complicated. If you understand that a core issue of the "mental illness" is a difference in how one views their sex and gender versus how society views the sex/gender then it makes it easier to have compassion and empathy for what they're going through. That's not to say that the internal conflict between their sense of self and the biological makeup of their body isn't the heart of the issue, but the way society views the expression of their "sex" as gender is also important, imo.

Do you think skin color identification is based on what a person believes they are? For example, do you think a person from Northern European descent who truly believes they are a black person, is a black person? If they asked you if they were a black person or a white person, would you agree that they are black?
Now, in most instances none of that would really matter, and I would have empathy for their condition. I would not agree that that person is a black person.

There's so much to unpack in that question...
Nov 20, 2024, 6:33 PM
|
|
What it means to be "white", "black", "brown", etc. in any society is such a complex discussion. For instance, you use "Northern European" to mean different than "black" but you can have black-skinned people from Northern Europe. And even within communities that we would classify as a whole, "shades" of skin color matter.
But it does illustrate one thing, how a person views themselves and how society views them are important and distinct and a disconnect between the two often causes issues for that person.

That is the issue. Gender dysphoria is a real issue. The whole trans issue is not a black and white deal just as most things in life aren’t.
I don’t pretend to even begin to understand what type of wiring is off kilter to make a male or female person truly believe that they are in the wrong body, but it is a real problem that no medication or in most cases counseling can remedy.
For an adult to then decide to go down the route to transitioning is of no importance to me.
That doesn’t mean that I favor biological males participating in sports with females or swallowing the drivel that men can menstruate, breast feed or become pregnant.
It also doesn’t mean that I favor going down this path for people who aren’t of age.
I also as a general rule don’t feel people with a ##### should use the women’s restroom or vice versa, but unless you’re a real busybody glancing at someone else’s junk, how would you know?
Lastly, no tax dollars should go to gender reassignment surgery in my opinion.
However, Dinesh is being a ###### bag to be making fun of this person for being different.
Just because one doesn’t understand something which admittedly is hard for most of us to understand doesn’t mean we have to attack someone personally.
It also doesn’t mean we have to affirm everything related to transgenders.

The biggest threat of the trans movement I'd govt compelled speech laws. Leftists in other parts of the world are successfully imprisoning people for misgendering (in other words calling someone their actual gender) trans people and they'll do it here if they can get away with it. If the govt can compel you to call a man a woman under threat of imprisonment then there's literally nothing they can't compel you to say to avoid prison. That's not a slippery slope, that's jumping off a cliff and there's no turning back at that point. That's why the left loves this issue. It isn't because they care about trans people, it's because it's the lefts Trojan horse to ultimately destroy the concept of freedom of speech and freedom from govt mandated speech, the latter of which this country has never had before.

That would be an easier law to pass than compelled speech here, thankfully.
That being said, I don't think a country can really call themselves a free country with laws that dictate speech (outside of that which may directly cause physical harm to another person).

Agreed. That's one of the reasons why I'm concerned by the speculation that Trump will try to remove public funding and adjust university accreditation standards as a way to limit free speech on college campuses.
Similar to freedom of the press, freedom of religion, and freedom of peaceful assembly. Those rights from the first amendment should all be protected and preserved, regardless of whether individual instances of expression in those areas go against your personal beliefs.

I don't think that would be a particularly hard law to pass if the left were in control of everything and law schools are graduating students with zero respect for the first amendment and some of those folks will eventually end up on the SC and thet happens it could easily happen here.

That's a lot more acceptable than criminalizing referring to someone by their correct gender and being forced to forgo truth and common sense in favor of a wacko political movement.

As I've said, I will be kind, respectful, and accepting to trans people. I don't care how people dress or how they refer to themselves; that's their business. I will even celebrate and defend their right to do that freely and without fear. They are welcome in my home or in my presence anywhere.
Here's the problem: That's not enough for many on the left. When they try to insist, pressure, intimidate, or mandate which pronouns I use when I refer to them, then they have crossed a line. When biological men participate in girls and women's sports, they have crossed a line. When men with dix demand to be allowed into girls' restrooms, they have crossed a line. They heve zero right to force anybody to do or accept any of that, or to otherwise treat them as something they are not.
To me, that distinction is very, very clear and obvious, and if I refuse to comply, it does not mean that I am paranoid, transphobic, a hater, a MAGAt, an uneducated redneck, or anything else. Those are all illogical, absurd allegations.

The person has no ability to think rationally about anything to do with Trump.
Trump is as anti-trans as any of the Libs of TNet. Why do you people twist everything? We just don't want kindergartners, kids, etc. bombarded by trans chit. We don't want girls competing against men.
If you people believe those two positions make me anti-trans, you are ufcked up.

Trans people have been around forever and nobody on the right cared. Then over the last five or so years the left decided that kids should be transed, that trans men should be allowed to absolutely destroy biological women in athletic events and that anybody who dared call them by their actual sex was a hate filled bigot who should be fired from their job, canceled and (at least in some western countries) imprisoned. Wonder why the right suddenly decided to make this an issue? Hmm.
