Streeter didn't represent Clemson well and Dabo had enough. That is why he went to UGA. He's a much better fit there where he can get away with all his shenanigans.

and the writer seemed fairly confident that DJ would be the likely starter which was surprising since one of the returning QBs (Ben Gulbranson) was 5-1 for them last year after the starter (Chance Nolan) was injured.

Based on what I could find regarding Ben Gulbranson, he was basically on par with NDs 2022 QB Drew Payne - low ceiling and low floor. Most Oregon State fans I've read comment on him found him to be average at best and I couldn't find any folks very confident in him coming back.
The freshman Aidan Chiles is more of a threat to DJ than Ben Gulbranson. I mentioned this in another thread that DJ could very well find himself in a similar spot to last year because Chiles appears to be a dynamic freshman.
I'm curious to see how it plays out in Corvallis.

First article that popped up in google when I tpyed in, "DJ U* spring game stats OSU"
DJ Uiagalelei struggled with accuracy early, but then found his groove and was sharp.
Uiagalelei showed good mobility in the pocket, and hitting receivers while on the move.
He was connecting with receivers and running backs, getting multiple players involved.
Aidan Chiles took some shots down field, but wasn’t always helped by his receivers.
He also showed what he can do with his legs. Chiles made a great play escaping pressure, and hitting Silas Bolden deep for a touchdown.
But he did struggle a bit with accuracy in the red zone.
He’s a dynamic player who definitely will start for the Beavers at some point. Will that be this season?
Uiagalelei seems like the safe bet right now to be the starter.
But Chiles is making it interesting.
Ben Gulbranson looked pretty much the same as last season. Certainly a quarterback who can win, but not a high ceiling.

If you read the article the #2 point was the D got pressure on the QB. If the OL cant block for DJ its only a matter of time til... incomplete, run, incomplete, punt.

I don’t understand why we all can’t agree with one thing:
Both DJ and Streeter were bad
Not sure why we have to take sides. The history of bad offenses is littered with bad OC’s coaching bad QB’s.

Aidan Chiles is who people are talking about. He's a dynamic true freshman with more talent than DJ and Gulbranson put together. He's demonstrated this during practice and the spring game.
DJ sounds like he has the same accuracy and decision issues as last year and won't be much different.
Gulbranson knows the offense in and out but he doesn't do anything well. Lack of talent is the reason.
My best guess is DJ or Gulbranson will start the season, eventually fail after a few games and the other will take over. By game 6 or 7, Chiles will be the guy and they won't look back.
Their offense is ground oriented and low risk. It's a perfect fit for Chiles to step into during his freshman season and use his physical gifts. From where the QBs stand right now, he will improve the most as time progresses.
Opinion:
Not trying to knock DJ, but you guys who believe he will make a huge jump this year will be very disappointed. There are no signs of that happening. That said, I think he will start game 1 because Gulbranson is very much below average. However, if he isn't the game 1 starter and Gulbranson hangs on 5-6 games, DJ will never start there. Jonathan Smith won't do him favors.
