If DJ is clearly the starter at practice, how bad

Are our backups? If it’s about putting the best guys on the field with the greatest chance of winning, then either we’ve recruited some carpy players or it isn’t a meritocracy - or our coaches aren’t doing their jobs

Posted last night. DJ didn't get a 5* for no reason. He can make the throws... sometimes. I don't know because I'm not in practice so I'm guessing here.

When there's no pressure of actually losing a game he performs well. Relaxed etc. And if it's practice, it doesn't matter if you make a mistake. But when it gets to crunch time where you know you only have 2 or 3 more tries, he feels he has to be perfect at that time.

So, he does great when the game starts. Even first half because he knows he's got another half. Not saying he's great all the time in the first half, but the anxiety kicks in and he seemingly freezes up.

I'm baffled and at a loss why cade wasn't given one series.

Yeah Im trying to keep this all in perspective... I mean even if Cade came in and completed 40% of his throws... thaaaatt would have been an improvement and maybe enough to win the game yesterday.

Per a friend who is on the sidelines for most practices, an NFL scout told him re: CK: “That’s your starting QB by game 4.” That was the week before the GT game….

Agree that DJ was anxious and afraid. Most of his misses were overthrows (except for the ones he threw to GG…) which is a sure sign of pressing the throw. Same thing happens with pitchers. Combine that with just crappy receiver play and you get 29% completion rate &<100 yds passing.

That said the OL did a fantastic job run blocking & pass blocking. DJ had plenty of time to make good choices & deliver the ball. But he didn’t so we lost.

He sure saved the Syracuse game. We would have won yesterday with him, just playing the 4th quarter.
