If anybody besides me were wondering,

Jun 16, 2022, 4:25 PM

If anybody is wondering why Bakich has traded his head coaching job at Michigan, for another head coaching job at Clemson. I can tell of 400,000 good reasons, and they are, he will be making more than twice of what Michigan was paying since his last contract of $400,000 that was raised from $182,327 when he was first hired as the head coach at Michigan, and I think they were going to raise the $400,000 to $500.000, but here comes Clemson with an offer of $850,000 the first year with a raise of $50,000 each year until it reaches $1.1 million in the last year of the deal.

It wasn't the cold weather that made Bakich, and family leave Michigan, it was cold cash that made staying at Michigan impossible for Bakich and family. But we all know, that when you have a coach that has improved your sports program, and you keep throwing them chicken feed a little at a time to keep them, before long, someone is going to want that coach that is willing to throw them a truck load of cash, and take that coach that was doing good things, but you only wanted to throw them chicken feed a little bit at a time!!!

Nah, disagree. Wasn't about the money. He wanted this job. And Neff showed me a lot by looping Leggett in. Neff stepped up and became the adult in the room on two occasions. Once keeping Brad and now this hire and repairing relationships. Everyone should be stoked about that. He put Clemson first.

Some people don’t understand anything but money. Probably the same folks that think that is why Venables left for Oklahoma.

Wow, to think that at tops, $1.2 mil over $400,000 wasn't the biggest reason to pack your family up, and leave a place that you were settled into for 10 years. Oh well, I will say this though, $825000 more than the $400000 I was already making would have been more than enough to cause me to pack up my family and move away from anywhere on this earth, regardless of how much I loved where I was at. I would've called a moving company before the ink had dried on the deal I had just signed ;)!!!

Dude just stop. You know precisely NOTHING

Jun 16, 2022, 5:38 PM

about his decision, other than what he's already told us and what everyone in the industry including smart Clemson baseball folks have said. A

Clemson is an upward move. Along with that he's getting a substantial increase in salary. There is nothing wrong with taking a lateral move let alone an upward move with pay as part of the equation.

Please stop trying so hard. Thank you.

Amen. Neff called leggett to let him know. Now that’s a great person. It’s about relationships and experiences and connections in life!

Do the baseball facilities need updated? If there are any that Bakich wants I bet they will be taken care of....From a computer/technology type of development platform....It helped that Michigan did not want to put that type of investment into the baseball program.

Also a 400k signing bonus to be paid immediately.

With that said, I think Bakich is passionate about Clemson. You could hear that in the press conference. Yes, we had the money, but I believe Clemson has a special place in his heart

I am wondering,

Jun 16, 2022, 5:32 PM

I just don't know the market.
Is he worth that?

The only reason to change would be for more wins. I don't see any evidence he would be a better ambassador at Clemson than Lee.

Was he the best available hire? Yall help me out.

No matter, he is now the guy and I am "ALL IN".

Folks don’t realize that going from $400k per year to $800k does not change a persons life like going from $40k to $80k. Bakich wanted a bigger stage with a chance at a natty. Michigan has little baseball tradition before he arrived and did not want to invest in the program. Playing the first six weeks on the road was also a concern. While the money is nice the thing is it simply shows the coach and recruits that Clemson is serious about winning baseball games and competition goes on the national stage.

Jstone... You have been making too much sense lately. I agree he realizes the potential of this program compared to Michigan.

Ann Arbor is COLDDDDD! My daughter got a masters degree

Jun 16, 2022, 9:37 PM

there and she hated it when I asked how the weather was....We only have what, 10 to 12 really cold days here, and they are just an every day winter day in Ann Arbor. And, he and the wife can be at the beach in 5 hours....You have to fly to get there from Michigan...Oh, and you can live on a lake that DOESN'T freeze over, 15 minutes from your office. Oh, and we have Denny's, something that really gets on those Yankees very last nerve.
