I mean…seriously they really would have to re-name it. Like the “ACC play-in game” or something along those lines. And for it to mean anything to anyone, they’d have to be guaranteed or pretty darn confident that the winner would get a playoff bid.

If people try to game it committee can change their rules. I don’t think there is any reason they would be required to take two if that’s what they are going for

end, instead of efforts to enhance the 13 Saturdays that precede it, is ultimately what has put the ACC so far behind its peers from a national interest standpoint over the years. This approach is doubling down on an already failed scheme.
Phillips should be shown the door for this level of ignorance and gimmickry.

I don’t think I’ve ever actually seen that word written out. Phonetically similar to mimicry. Buena palabra, amigo.
I tend to use gimmickeration or gimmickitudefulness, but I’ll consider switching to an actual dictionary term thanks to this poast.

You do realize your post does not even make sense. There is not a champion until the game is played.

I see the logic in this. This would help our conference champion win the Natty. Neither finalist this year played in a conference championship game. Did that "bye" week allow them to rest and heal, and not risk injury? Hmmmmm. Something to think about.

First, the writing in the linked article is atrocious.

Are there no editors at USAToday?
Second, I can’t imagine the attendance of an ACC “second place” game.
Third, this sport is such a shell of its former self. There is no respect for the student athlete concept whatsoever. And maybe there shouldn’t be because of all the money being made. But how much can we expect “students” to play their sport?
I really think there’s an avenue to separate the sports programs from the school and be done with this charade.
