Michigan is a purple state as you well know. If she is truly working for the good of her constituency, then she will play nice when she should with the child in chief. Nothing wrong with appearing with the President in situations like this. This wasn't like the NYC mayor fellating Trump.
That being said, she was unfortunately unable to avoid the creepy Trump hug. I assume it was because Trump wanted to snuggle up against the big tiddies. He can't help himself. But she dealt with it like a champ. She should have been more ready for the Trump hug after what he did in the oval office when she came to visit recently.
A couple of years from now though - you are right. It could hurt her as I reflect upon your subject line. A lot of mouth breathers out in the populace across the political spectrum that will look at a picture and make an uninformed judgement. Or will tune to their podcaster of choice to tell them what to think.

You are reading me correctly ChatRTD / RememberTheDanny, the kidnapping will play no role in her electability amongst independents, RINOs, Neocons, and Democrats. For the "we know things/conspiracy/MAGA mainstream" - it doesn't matter. They are only going to vote for who Trump tells them to vote for, whether it be Trump Sr, Jr, or ... Laura Loomer (though I think she will still be too young).

You don’t remember the kidnap hoax which Gov Whitmer used to enhance her status as a victim?
Before the ‘I was being kidnapped’ hoax, Gretchen had not been able to distinguish her victim status from other prominent female politicians who blame every self-inflicted setback on mysogeny, white male masculinity, man-splaining, and mysogeny. (They really like the mysogeny angle.). Thus, the kidnap hoax was spawned (through artificial insemination … no traditional masculine man allowed).
