there would probably be no internet because a penny has never been pried from my pocket from an internet ad. EVER. Same for marketing phone calls. NEVER.

No, but it's the default search engine in the TOR browser

Of course if you're using the TOR browser, Google can't track you anyway other than saving your search. No cookies, no java, no nothing.
Boot your PC into TAILS from a USB stick or CD, connect via encrypted VPN, use Tor and then search Duck Duck. There. You're practically NSA proof, except for the possible embedded zero-day browser exploit.

Here.

Be careful.
Tor (good) - leaves traces on your PC https://www.torproject.org/download/download-easy.html.en
TAILS (better) - Leaves no trace on your PC https://tails.boum.org/index.en.html
VPN - Google it and find a service.
And with this all being said, you're never completely safe. If a zero-day exploit (undiscovered security flaw) is embedded in any webpage you view, your browser can give you away, no matter the encryption or whatever. The NSA and FBI have plenty of exploits they can use, but if you go anywhere they use them you should probably be in jail anyway. Law enforcement and internet security companies and browser companies unceremoniously stopped freely communicating long ago. In the past, if the FBI found a security flaw, they informed Mozilla, Google, Microsoft, etc. so they could fix it. Now they just sit on it and use it as needed until someone eventually finds it and patches it.
