shortened rest and after throwing like 115 pitches in his last outing. Not worth the injury risk to me. We're not going to improve our seeding unless we legit make the ACCCG.
Pitch him on Thursday against NC ST if we win Wednesday.

I'd tend to agree, Bailey only threw one inning this weekend, so I'd start him in the first game maybe. Then after him you go back to the normal rotation starting in game 2 (assuming we win game one.)
I see it both ways though, the idea of saving arms for later makes sense on paper, but it's single elimination now and we have to win the games to advance, so saving guys for later doesn't help if we lose in the first game.

Wait _ women’s softball pitchers are tougher.

Career Context Ryan's career spanned 27 seasons in Major League Baseball, during which he maintained a high level of performance, often pitching deep into games. Variations There were instances where Ryan pitched on shorter rest, especially during critical games or playoff situations, but 4 days was the standard for his regular starts. Workload Management Ryan's durability and conditioning allowed him to handle a heavy workload, contributing to his longevity and success in the sport.

I once ready a quote, not sure who it was from, but they said "The human arm is not meant to throw 100 mph for prolonged periods of time. Except for Nolan Ryan. His arm was designed just for that." Still crazy how he pitched so hard, for so long, and never really had a significant arm injury.

I’m not sure why guys can’t throw on 4 days rest anymore. I’m assuming like every thing else, it started at the MLB level where they pay guys so much their scared to throw them, which seems very counterproductive.
It used to be you would long toss / soft toss when it’s not your day to pitch , especially the day after you threw 100+pitches. And considering pitchers are getting shut down much more now than back in the 80’s and 90’s, I’m assuming what they do now isn’t working.
But yes, he should be more than ready to throw Wends. if the matchup calls for it.

It seems like Bakich and Belanger stick with that "1 hr of rest per pitch thrown" recommendation and Knaak threw something like 115 pitches on Thursday (can't remember exactly.) So that would mean he needs 5 days rest and he'd be good to pitch Wednesday by their standard. In my opinion, if they decided to hold him it would probably be for matchup reasons, not rest reasons.
