Whats the big deal?

If I had to guess she was probably involved in a fight. The officer didn't yoke her up and wasn't overly aggressive. It is something that girl will probably remember for the rest of her life and will now think twice before redoing any actions that put her in that position in the first place.
If you'd rather we can go back to teachers beating students in class.

especially when she is 6 years old.
Has she been tested? Is she on the spectrum? Is there abuse at the house causing her to lash out?
There are a MULTITUDE of other interventions for a child as young as that that doesn't result in emotional trauma to the child.
There is absolutely no excuse for putting any 6 year old in handcuffs

office. And would have been paddled. Then sent home, and paddled MUCH worse, again. THEN punished. Probably suspended.
FWIW, the 6yo kicked a teacher. I never saw a student kick a teacher (k-16). Not only did I never see it, it never happened at my school, ever. Wonder why that is? I mean what could possibly explain the total absence of this behavior in the past, where today it is so much more common?

Parents being sensitive to their baby being paddled in the principal's office has led to this exact situation of kids being put in handcuffs.
Lets just let the little ##### run wild with no form of punishment.

dead on the spot.
Don't be purposefully obtuse. Arresting kids is a BIG FU>CKING DEAL. It ain't gonna scare her straight. Yes, the parents probably shoulder alot of blame for her behavior, but you have no clue as to what has happened previously to make her act out like this. She is in the first grade.

people who teach you to respect people in authority. Some don't, but that doesn't excuse arresting the kid without prior approval such as their protocol requires.
Keep being obtuse and living in your fairy-tale world.

You keep using this obtuse word
Feb 26, 2020, 9:46 AM

It has nothing to do with being obtuse, and everything to do with knowing the difference between right and wrong. If I had ever been arrested (probably not at age 6), my parents would have left me overnight just to teach a lesson because they know that I knew better.
That little girl thought she was all big and bad, until she had to pay consequences. This more than likely wasn't the first time shes done something like this either. Society is too #### soft.

ok I can see it. Mainly because by then she has been tested. Also, most emotional development issues have been identified by 3rd grade. 1st grade? You have no idea what's actually wrong with this child.
Could be she's just a ####### brat and needs her ### wore out. Or it could be autism, abuse at home, drugs during her development.
This is a job for the school psychologist. Not a cop.
I don't know, maybe having a 6 year old has made me soft.

There's no way this was little sally's first offense. They've probably exhausted other options to the point where the SRO thought this was appropriate. I'm not defending his actions but he did what he thought was best at the time. There is way more to this story than what is written in that article.

but putting a kid in hand cuffs and escorting to a police car as an 'act' is not a big deal. She's learning action and consequences. What else can schools do these days for something as extreme as kicking a teacher?
If there are issues at home I hope they can help her with some counseling.

I am a firm believer in leading by example. It is important in EVERYTHING you do. My wife and I disagree fundamentally on this issue. For example, wife's office is a WRECK. Her car is filthy and full of trash. My home office is clean, everything is neat and straight. No mess. Car is spotless, and I take the kids to school every morning and they spend just as much time in my car. I can find anything in my office. My clothes are folded and in drawers. I can find any piece of clothing instantly. Kids and wife, another story. They can't find crap, lose crap all the time, and it takes more time to FIND the kids clothes than to dress them.
Wife believes you lead by yelling. Then yelling louder. And asking your kids to clean up, when your own car/office/everything is a wreck. The kids trash her car. They leave crap in it all the time. She yells and yells at them all the time to clean up. They don't. Now in my car, they never spill anything. They (on their own without having to be yelled at or even told) clean their trash up and throw it away when they get out.
I say this because kids learn by example. Moreso than even being yelled at or even spanked. If you lie, your kids will lie. If you smoke dope, they will smoke dope. If you steal, they will steal. If you're a slob, they'll be slobs. Not 100% of the time, but generally speaking.
At school I drop the kids off every morning, as I mentioned. We drive up to the dropoff line. Usually there are several buses lined up to drop off the first kids. Guy walks out the door, buses and kids unload, my kids go in, I wait and leave behind the buses. There is a parking lot beside the dropoff line. It's marked TEACHER PARKING ONLY when you drive into it. THEN near the crosswalk, there is a sign that says the parking lot is NOT A DROPOFF AREA. Again because it's a teacher's parking lot, and it's a danger to have cars lined up dropping off, buses unloading, cars driving by and kids crossing in mass, plus teachers having trouble finding a space when they arrive. ANYWAY, every freaking day there are 20-30+ parents who drive into that lot, let their kids out of the car, walk RIGHT BY THAT SIGN, hug their kids, then send them in. Why? Because the parents don't want to have to wait for the bus to unload and they can leave quicker. One of the cub scout dads does this. Sets a ###### example for his kids doing that. And wouldn't you know it, his kid is the least well behaved, most disruptive kid in the troop, and never follows the rules. He is the same in class at school. And a big part of that is his own father drops him off 5 feet from a sign indicating that he shouldn't. Every morning.

in the same line that weaves through the lot. It is truly a clusterfu>ck but they added onto the school and I guess the new parking lot was an afterthought. There is actually a house between the school and the parking lot, someone wouldn't sell to the school district I guess.
