This happens on a daily basis lately.
Today, it's standing here in one of those tiny little airports where you have to walk out to the plane, and hearing Beastie Boys and 311 coming from the tiny little airport lunch counter, knowing both bands have gone from something people want to enjoy, to something people can ignore while ordering soggy Cubans and hot dogs.

I am from the area and for years kidded my late Mom about being old because the closed her high school in our hometown in Va. I distinctly remember getting a call from her to tell me my HS was becoming the Jr High. I'm sure the "new" HS is very nice. The old one was a dump even in the 70's

Trying to explain to my kids about "Being the Remote Control" in my family when I was young and having only 3-4 channels on the TV (ABC, CBS, NBC and WGN).

When I would visit my parents and a towel was thrown over the VCR because the the power had gone out and the clock was flashing. They didn't know how to reset the clock. Then a few weeks ago I had to get my son to setup the YouTube TV on ours.

I hear music and it is from my HS or Clemson days. Much like the OP mentioned.
And in the national stores they have it carefully curated to their target demo so we feel good and happy hearing music from our youth.

Struggling out of the bed in the morning only to hobble to the bathroom because I’m stiff from head to toe. And bending over slowly to pick something up without losing my balance and falling over.( this could also be from the whiskey I drank too). Just sayin.
