I was born and raised in SC, I now live in IL. So for me, this board allows me to keep some sort of connection with fellow Clemson fans.
I've been following along for years, long before I registered, and I've always been dumbfounded with how negative the forum is.
Now here we are, 8-0, with a once in a decade (potentially more) type of team and it's more of the same.
I was a part of one these forums (unrelated) in the 00s when they were sort of popular and there was plenty of bickering- but nothing like this. It's beyond absurd, especially considering we all have the same common rooting interest.
I know they're coming, the sarcastic, sour ### comments..... and go

I think there are two small factions on the extreme’s of attitudes towards Brownell. The average Clemson fan, an overwhelmingly larger middle, has simply become disinterested because of the mundane results of the last 13 years. As one of Brad’s detractors I’ve only wanted success. Obviously very encouraged by the start to this season. I see a lot of new names commenting on the season - some daring to express any prior reservation. The contingent I lovingly refer to as Brownell Bros seem to have deeply internalized resentments to anyone not already in their cult of personality and seem to want to start petty fights in ostensibly positive threads. Which of course is going to garner a response and escalate.

we're 8-0..... but we were 9-1 in 2020/21, as well. Are we thus in a "new decade" now, or has the OP simply glossed over the crash and burn of the previous team?
Viz is simply noting that cognitive dissonance seems to drive at least the Bros' side of the aisle.
Some of us like to ground ourselves in fact, instead.

You’re new here (relative to basketball sh*tposting on Tnet goes) so I’ll forgive you ignorance on the topic even as you try to do exactly what I said about the Bros. Heck, your entire time here may be after the great Judge Keller Virginia game flame out post where he but nearly 50 people on ignore after being caught blatantly lying about our basketball team. I’m not relitigating past grievances while we’re 8-0.

Agree. Too many negative Nancy’s. We all should try to be a bit more positive rather than attacking each other. We should not be criticizing Coach Brownell and ready to fire him when his team is behind after the first half and then he comes back and wins the game. The board should be for information rather than a place to vent one’s anger.

I'm no great fan of Clemson but I go to alot of football and men's bball games and hope they win them all. Beats watching them lose.
Men's b-ball may have a whale of a year. Or not.
Either way, none of it helps with inflation, or pays the mortgage, or heals the sick.
I like to think that most fans think as I do, and, unlike me, are too busy doing stuff to spend time on a message board.

it's been my limited experience that it depends greatly on two things. One, why are you posting? and two, why are you reading what's being posted?
Anyone looking for a fight usually finds one. Those are generally easy to pinpoint. Asking questions or criticizing performance or game decisions while appearing negative, I will give the benefit of the doubt. I mean, if they weren't fans I assume their reaction to anything Clemson does or doesn't do would be indifference.
In my personal case, it also depends on how old you are or how long you have been a fan. I'm old enough to remember pre-1977 Clemson football. What a sad state that was. If you can only remember back to when Dabo was hired, you perspective is a little different.

have been so trollish in mediocre seasons, that it makes it difficult to be supper supportive when there are good wins. The team has been average foe 13 seasons, but they expect fans to laud over him during a good run this season.
