O.K.I can see Dabo being third, but I would have thought #1 and #2 would have been Nick Saban and Brian Kelly. Oh wait, didn't he beat Nick Saban and Brian Kelly? Nevermind!

I agree with the picks for the top 3.

They could have been placed in any order. But it's annoying to see another jab at the ACC - it's like they're trying to take away some of our luster.

I don't recall us being preseason #1, ever.

pulling away from Texas A&M for whom there really weren't any expectations this year. And we then flipped with Alabama for the rest of the season, after they beat the brakes off Miami, which sucked more than people even realized they would at the time.

You're thinking of Louisville. That's who Bama crushed. It was LSU who beat Miami.

The writer of this piece has been called all types of names, and I don't know why anyone would care what CFN rankings are(that's where the pre-season No. 1 ranking supposedly came from) When the actual experts figured there would be some issues at Clemson including QB positioning going into the 2018 season.
The Bear Bryant award went to Swinney not because the ACC was a dumpster fire, but because he coached a hell of a season running over all but 2 teams by high margins in the 2nd & 3rd qtrs because Clemson was coached extremely well at all levels on and off the field.
CFN is the typical fanboy reporting from CFN that any armchair devotee to college football could compile based on opinion vs actual observed facts. Look at their current front page and the articles are pretty much all this fellow too.

Why is it that it always feels like a backwards insult? Clemson won, but Alabama was blah blah blah....

I'll second those nominations.
Way back when, in the Big Whatever, when it was just Nebraska and Oklahoma or Southern Cal. and UCLA, did anyone question the depth of the conferences they played in? If you could stand to listen to Keith Jackson, you would have concluded that real football was only played west of the Mississippi, except for maybe Penn State. Now, of course, it's only played by SEC teams. Let's see, didn't we beat 3 SEC teams this year? Dang. Where is real college football being played now?

FYI, roughly half (6 of 13) of ND’s schedule was against the ACC. Where’s the dig about ND playing a weak ACC slate? Or does playing the real USC and Navy make up for that slack?
