1) He's slowed down a step. Maybe it's a nagging injury.
2) He's tough but lacks lateral quickness & explosiveness. His "moves" & "jukes" rarely affect defenders. He trips easily.
3) At times, I'm concerned Ship is prone to be concussed due to lack of blocking, lack of imagination on one offensive run play, and his straight-ahead style.
4) His NFL viability is up in the air. He'll be back at Clemson or transfer next year. No NFL in 2024.
5. Mafah also seems a step slower this year. The complete absence of blocking is clear & disturbing.

No high-stepping by either back, a shoestring tackle brings both down easily, we have had several 3* backs that were better than either Ship or Phil. Neither will play on Sunday but they will never have big yardage games playing behind this high school oline. Etienne could not run for 700 yards a year behind these underachievers. If we were just average on the oline we could be 6-1, don't deserve it but we could be.

quickness. He's not all world or anything, but he has surpassed Ship in efficiency and effectiveness. It's past time to make him RB1.

He does seem just a step slower than his FR year, which is unfortunate because I thought if he could pick up a bit of speed he could be special. But went the other direction instead.
The footwork seems to be a bit off with Ship and Mafah. The shoestring tackles are just the norm. I don’t really expect big runs anymore. I miss ETN hitting a crease and BAM end zone.

Ship just seems like a total head case at times. His immaturity is holding him and us back when he loses control and pouts. Passion is great but unchecked passion can be disruptive.

Lack of development since he’s been here, along with every other player on this team. There’s a trend where these highly recruited players seem to regress. Can’t imagine what’s to blame for that…..
