Venables vs Steele stats against GaTech
Sep 21, 2016, 1:38 PM
|
|
Brent Venables - 3-1 Average - 377.75 Yards a game 228.5 Rushing yards 149.25 Passing Yards
2015 -Win 43-24 230 Total Yard 71 Rushing 159 Passing
2014 -Loss 6-28 353 Total Yards 251 Rushing 102 Passing
2013 -Win 55-31 445 Total Yards 253 Rushing 192 Passing
2012 -Win 47-31 483 Total Yards 339 Rushing Yards 144 Passing Yards
Kevin Steele - 1-2 Average - 412.3 Yards a Game. 319.3 Rushing Yards a Game 93 Passing Yards a Game
2011 -Loss 17-31 443 Total Yards 383 Rushing Yards 60 Passing Yards
2010 -Win 27-13 325 Total Yards 242 Rushing Yards 83 Passing Yards
2009 - Loss 34-39 469 Total Yards 333 Rushing Yards 136 Passing Yards
The biggest difference between the two is rushing yards allowed. Venables defenses have given up more passing yards, but held their rushing attack down. GaTech hasn't had as much success with long time consuming drives that they had when Steele was the D coordinator. The other thing that stands out is that Venables defenses also have improved each year.
Hopefully we will continue the positive trend.

I thought Steele was always well-prepared for GT...

I really liked how he schemed them... We played them really well under Steele. The problem was that we would give up 1 or 2 busts that made the difference.
BV has done a tremendous job as well.

and I think he specifically mentioned Foster early in his time here in regards to ways to defend them.
Great stats. I'd love for us to hold them to under 300 yards again!!

in the past few years, no? But Venables was still making an impact in his first few years as I recall.

39-34 was the ACCCG. The regular season game in ATL was 30-27.

We were terrible in the first half, stormed back to take a 27-24 lead, got screwed out of a TD that wouldve put us up more, and then we lost on a couple of FGs.

I think the difference will show up in 3rd down D. How many

Punts did each of them force? Steele’s D could hardly force a punt and had long continuous drives.
