With our current players what would the line on the game be? Also what percentage would you say Clemson’s chance to win would be? I would say Clemson by 12 and a solid 95% Clemson wins and maybe higher. Anyways GO TIGERS!!!

You’re crazy DW4 was crazy crazy special from his very 1st drive against Georgia his freshman year. Deshaun consistently drop throws into tight windows. If I had a choice of freshman deshaun vs Cade I would take deshaun a 100 times over. Nothing against and I love him and pray he has a very very successful career but the 2 are light years apart.

Cade in his sophomore year is not even as poised and purely gifted as Deshaun showed as a true freshman.
That’s not to say we can’t ride Cade to the playoffs, but he’s not remotely as good as DW was at this point in his career. Not even close really.
Maybe we’re misunderstanding what you meant?

Are you insane? We went 14-1 his sophomore year and he threw for 400 yards against Bama in a game we should have won had Green and Kearse showed up in the secondary. Have you ever watched Clemson football before this year?

The issue hasn’t been a team or program collapse. It was the DJ era, period.
Still 13th and 14th though, but yeah, Trevor or Deshaun would have been more than enough to extend the nations 2nd best playoff history. As it is, we’re still 2nd in playoff numbers.

than last years team. If it is better the improvement has been defensively. Our offense started out OK last year and didn't really start having major issues until the Cuse game. We've had major issues right out of the gate this year.

We’re 20th in offense, 8th in defense, and 9th least penalized team with the 13th ranked SOS.
We never reached those heights last year.
Cade is growing in his game speed control, and he’s light years better than DJ.

promise you that. Total offense is a trash stat, especially at this point in the season. Much better metrics have been developed for evaluating performance.
We went 11-3 last year. It's gonna take alot of work to match that this year. The schedule is more difficult and we've already lost one.

That's a half truth we would have made playoffs last year if Dabo started Cade in second half against the Roosters. It was tough missing out of playoffs by one point loss. Clemson would have knocked TCU out of playoffs specially after their BIG 12 title loss to KSU.

Sounds like some of you have been drinking too much of the Orange Kool Aid. Cade is no where near Deshaun's level at any point during Deshaun's career here at Clemson. I honestly don't think he will ever be near Deshaun's level either. Deshaun was a very special player and I believe he may have been one of the best, if not the best to ever put on the Clemson uniform. That guy had ice water flowing through he veins. He could make a mistake and he wouldn't make that same mistake again. I always felt like we could win when he was playing.
Cade just needs to be Cade and not Deshaun or Trevor. He is never going to be them. Can he be great, I don't know just yet. Does he have the potential? I'm sure he does, but he has to settle down. He can start to show his true potential by coming away with a victory this weekend.

I couldn’t agree more. When DW4 was behind center I genuinely thought we had a shot at every single game we played regardless of how good or bad the defense played. I felt good about Trevor in 2018 but I would be lying if I wasn’t slightly concerned about the game against Tua and Bama that year.

Cade my never be DW4. But DW4 was never close to being T Law. Cade can grow more into T Law he's good the arm just missing the WRs side of it. OC is gradually opening up the playbook.

I think Deshaun is the best QB ever at Clemson. Trevor a close 2nd. Deshaun never gave up. The 1st two playoff games against Bama he played incredible.

T Law and Homer were better QBs that Deshaun. Cole Stoudt was the QB that never gave up he played hurt most of his senior season. Chad just kept trying to get him to run DW plays which didn't work. After DW surgery Cole got one last game and new OCs ran Cole plays and he dominated the bowl game in blowout. Can't remember the team think it was OU.

was surrounded by better WR threats for sure. Also Watson benefited from starting 8 games his FR year. Cade wasn’t afforded that opportunity- though he should have been(at least a few more). Cade is on his 5th start total while DW was on his 12th at this point. That is a huge difference in a qbs progression/development. I’ll say this, Soph year Watson was faced with a similar 4th game. #6 ND was coming to town. Obviously a heavy rain game but Watson was 10-21 for 84 yds and 2 Tds/ 1 INT and 16 rushes for 93 yds. Escaped with a W but that was largely by the D and rushing game. The week before - game 3 of his SO season, he escaped Louisville(unranked) with a 20-17 win 199 yds passing, 32 rushing 2TDs/2 INTs. He started playing much better towards the end of his SO season. He had flashes and performed really well in his FR for being a FR but certainly didn’t have the weight/expectations on his shoulders to the tune Cade does. I expect Cade to continue to improve. I expect to see him to be used more in the running game to give Ds something else to consider. I have no idea what his ceiling is, and we won’t know until it’s in our rearview mirror. He could also end up as good or better than DW but that doesn’t mean we are guaranteed any championships. The road has gotten tougher, the supporting cast has changed, and next year the playoff format changes as well.
