Why would BV go to OU if it's going into SEC?

Whether BV is actually going to become HC at OU or not, I'm sitting on the sidelines waiting on that call.
However, in the meantime before we get the actual announcement either way, my question is specifically does the choice make sense with OU going into the SEC in 2025?
Sure BV has history at OU, but being part of OU moving into SEC does it make sense from a skills to the table decision for him to make this choice versus staying at Clemson where he should have bonafide shots at more Natty's? OU sticking in the Big 12 would have a better chance with BVs defensive leadership skills of winning B12 and getting shots at Natty's in my opinion. A much better standing than moving into SEC and having to figure how teams like Bama/UGA will shut down OU offense, not a strong suite for BV... will he harness those skills in 3 years time to be able to make it in the SEC on that side of the ball?
From the standpoint of opportunity, of course going from DC to HC and commensurate pay raise is enticing. But is that better than the potential to take the reigns at Clemson if Dabo moves on within the next 5 years? Both BV and Dabo are top notch, I think there isn't anyone in college football who could have saved Clemson in 2021 besides BV given the offensive issues. Is OU's future in the SEC enough of concern for BV or of little merit?
If OU wasn't going into the SEC I think the decision would be less cloudy for BV looking 3-4 years down the line of where his program might be at that point. Considering how long it took Dabo & BV to get the Tigers to the Natty together(~5yrs) can BV find an OC that will match as good as his being DC for Dabo given the SEC transition?
Just some food for thought on the what ifs to consider out there.

He’s likely getting at least 3x his current salary and gets to run a program…a prestigious, established program. There is nothing wrong with him accepting that and the conference is irrelevant.

I don't think the conference issue is irrelevant though. We've seen the circle jerk ranking issues in the SEC already for several years and it will become murkier in 2025 for sure. You look at 2021 and UGA and Bama are in the top 4, you think OU will be able to consistently notch out that spot starting in 2025?
Unlike Clemson, which had very little in the way of a prestigious set in stone program, OU doesn't allow for the latitude because of that history and establishment any HC has to face. BV doesn't strike me as the type of guy whose blood pressure would handle the many more obstacles of changing such a program on any wide scale if he so desired. Remember, he spent all those years under Stoops prior to coming to Clemson, in the same exact role he's got at Clemson AHC/DC/LB. From a prestige standpoint he's not going to gain tremendously if OU doesn't become a perennial Natty participant... which I think is going to be doubly hard inside the SEC.
This is why I'm thinking it has to be part of the equation in considering the job beyond the salary increase. Is his internal goal to be a HC for the prestige AND PRESSURE, or the best contributor to a program to be the most successful it can be. The latter he fulfills at Clemson consistently and is the reason Clemson has gone into the Natty conversation the last 5 of 6 years.

Do you realize the pay gap between HC on Coordinator? It’s not about money being an issue, it’s about pay scale for the position. And…the opportunity to run your own program. Congrats to Brent, thanks for the awesome run.

If you think BV is driven by $$$ then why didn't he leave the last 6 times he could have gone to much more prestigious programs than Clemson?
Money doesn't drive BV just like it doesn't drive Dabo. Money comes from being blessed by success. But it doesn't guarantee success at all... plenty of NCAA and NFL coaches are prime proof and see where those guys are now. Urban Meyer isn't bringing success to the Jaguars, and the slew of highly paid P5 coaches who've been canned this season are clearly not successes. BV strikes me as the kind of guy who knows he's already got more money than he needs, and so he's driven by other forces.

Teams weren't paying coaches 10 millions a year back then. That's the difference. Coaches contract went from 12 million to over 50 million.

Could you please list the 6 places BV could have gone that are more prestigious than Clemson? Could you please list 6 programs that are more prestigious than Clemson? Currently more prestigious than Clemson. I don't care about the 50"s 60"s and 70's lets stick with the last 10 years!

He’s going to get it handed to him? This is Oklahoma, it’s not Clemson. Worry about your own.

Venerables has over 40 million reasons to go now and I dont blame him. Yall take this stuff too seriously. He just setup his kids life and his grand kids life with dozens of millions of dollars even if he does it for 5-6 years. Only a stupid person would say no.

will extend Brent some extra grace due to the move to the SEC. Only a maroon would not think the SEC is going to be much tougher than was the Big 12. So, slightly less success will be more tolerated, at least initially.
