If you had a job the whole time, you didn't need a stimulus.

Agreed, but $600B is a ridiculously low starting point here. It is hardly even serious.

I think the package needs to be much smaller than what the Dems are proposing and that needs to happen by needs testing the payments. Note the phasing them out based on past income is not the same as needs testing.
For the vast number of people who work and have federal income taxes withheld for them, the gubmint should have a pretty good idea who was working and who was not and if their income had been cut, etc...
There should then also be a way to file an application if you don't fit the typical model.
To send out checks to everyone, regardless of if their income has been impacted by COVID or not is simply wasteful and short-sighted.
I got the 1st and 2nd stimulus and my job hasn't been directly impacted by COVID at all.

The Reps don't seem to understand that this bill needs to provide relief to those in need AND stimulus to the economy as a whole.
That being said, these are numbers, so the Dems should be able to adjust theirs a bit to help accommodate bipartisan cooperation - and relatively quickly. People really NEED that help now.

One it gets to people who don't need it and they go out and spend it on boats, cars, whatever.
Two it goes to the people who do need it and is spent on mortgage, loans, bills.
Either way.

I know several law firms that received between $40k and $200

K with between 1 and 4 lawyers on staff, which I assume was par for the course for small businesses. These law firms have suffered very little business lost during the Covid.
But, talk about giving $1,400 to a individual in need seems brings out the most vocal opposition.

rent and a couple of other things. If you had any way to make payroll without PPP money then you violated the law. I received over 100k of PPP money and paid every penny back, because I ended up not needing it.

Republicans lost Georgia because the idiots in the metro areas, now outnumber regular people in the rest of the state. Same as PA, NY, MI, CA. And I call them idiots because the metro areas have the worst policies, and the people double down and elect more democrats.

They lost GA because the 2 candidates couldn't really run...
Feb 1, 2021, 12:37 PM

on the issue of keeping the dems from controlling Congress and the WH, since Pres Trump wouldn't concede and would actively campaign against anyone that suggested that he actually lost
AND
It didn't make a lot of sense to expect good turn out when you've spent many months going on about how the GA election system was rigged.
"The GA election system is rigged and fraudulent thousands of Trump votes weren't counted and thousands of Biden votes were made up...now we want everyone to make sure they turn-out to vote on Tuesday!"

Yup, and that's the gift that keeps right on giving, too.
Since of course, the problem has not been found or fixed, and the Dems can game the system any old time they want to.
How do you organize a political party when you've got that assertion out there? There simply is no path forward, because to accept this assertion as fact is also by definition to accept as fact that your party is behind the 8-ball and will lose every election going forwards for all time.
Go team! Make America Great Again!
