Ran down The HiLL as a Senior would and stated he & parents & agent(s) still deciding.
I say he’s finished at Clemson and if doesn’t get good news from NFL l, he will sign with NDame (his 2nd choice i believe).
Wait, maybe he will attended the ACC school his parents attended.
Still, would light for him to stay in Tigertown.

You can't tell me that Shipley would transfer from Clemson to play for another team. He's either NFL bound or back for one more run as a Tiger.

I would normally agree with you, and not saying you aren't right, but something was definitely off this year. I don't think he liked his role and splitting time with Mafah. He loved being "the man" the year before and I think he feels like this year hurt his stock. So, him transferring somewhere that gets him closer to doing what he did in 2022 does not seem that far fetched to me.

In 2022, he had 1400 combined rushing and passing yards and over 300 yards on returns. I think his total combined yardage was 3rd in the nation and he was first team All ACC at 3 positions. To have that kind of year compared to his role in 2023 would seem to naturally have you questioning your role and value.

But, there is no doubt in my mind he is the prototypical style back that Norvell loves in his offense.
If he did enter the portal, which I don't think he will, he will be one of the top 3 most recruited guys in the portal.
UGA, Bama, FSU, Oklahoma, UVA (just mention them because of Tony), and at least 50 other schools would contact him.

I agree with you on 99% of the posts but I'm not so sure on this one. As I posted above, he'd mentioned before that he liked returning punts. He's got to realize next year we'll have a stable of slot and wr's in general.. so stands to reason those snaps will be highly reduced. We also really want to get Jay in some snaps.
But I agree, he could probably name his price wherever he goes .

It's like he's playing on ice most of the time and can't keep his feet under him. He needs to come back to TigerTown and figure out how to work it out with Mafah in the 2 strong backfield.

Kind of hard to "work it out" when you don't call the plays. Unfortunately, we didn't use the 2-back set all that often and it didn't look like we had created a lot of plays for it.

Personally I think he is gone. Not sure if it’s the portal or NFL but the guy just does not seem content with his current role.
Also I’m all for being competitive but don’t disrespect a coach or go slamming your helmet on the sidelines. Just not a good look imo.

Well, if we look at the success of the portal players leaving Clemson it is fairly miserable. DJU is the obvious exception to this and I really have no good explanation for his turnaround. Better receivers, improved confidence, and maybe some better coaching as well may have all been a factor. Glad he's found some peace of mind. As for Ship, he's not exactly the second coming of CJ Spiller or ETN. About the same size but has no breakaway speed, and normally goes down on first contact. I'm sure many teams would like to have him but those teams all reside outside of the top 20. He has an NIL deal at Clemson, I'm really not sure if he's good enough to be offered anything at all at another school. There are dozens of freshman coming into the top schools that are bigger or faster or both. He's a good solid college player and that's about it. If we don't have someone committed that is better than we have don't have a very good class. Wish him the best if he stays or if he goes but the NFL is pipe dream that would quickly unravel at the combine.
