Clemson coach Dabo Swinney had an extended intro to his call-in show on Monday, wrapping up the NC State game and looking ahead:
* He says every program and every prominent coach goes through a "crazy" season like this. Swinney said that he's as frustrated as he's ever been but he's also as optimistic as he's ever been about the program. "It may seem like we're far, but we're really not."
* "This is a team that could very easily be 8-0 right now." He ran down some of the plays that didn't go the Tigers' way through the four losses that have Clemson 4-4. Swinney believes Clemson has a national championship-caliber defense and a team that is good enough to be 8-0. He said they have "struggled to get out of their own way."
* Clemson play by play announcer Don Munson tried to transition to saying that "You remember November," hinting toward trying to finish well, but Swinney quipped with a laugh, "I remember September and October too."

This is the really sad part about it. These defenses were NC caliber.

I’m not sure who he is trying to convince. He’s right, if we had not fumbled and had scored instead, we’d be 8-0. Unfortunately, that’s not what happened. A lot of teams with 4 losses could say the same.

Well we are 4-4 and we have a terrible scoring offense. We arent good. Yes, if we were luckybwe could be 8-0. If we were good it would be a non issue. We are not.

Because they weren’t inside the 3 and others weren’t also weren’t housed. That said, the other answer is the offensive line is straight dog water even though the talent level is at it’s all time high.

No, no we couldn't. For this to be true, the following would have to happen
- Erase every critical turnover this season. That's 3 for Duke alone, but still doesn't get us the W.
- Make EVERY kick (which wins us the FSU game)
- Convert almost TD's on every possession inside the 10 (which has been atrocious).
Here's 3 more likely things that would have had a better result...
- New OL coach and better talent acquisition. Ones that are smart, strong and have a nasty streak.
- New WR coach and better talent acquisition. One that are fast, can separate, will play fast and block down field.
- Hire experience at coaching positions instead of friends.
With the talent we have on the roster, outside a few notable misses, this team has done less with more than anyone I can remember lately. We should be beating teams this year like Duke, Miami and Florida by 7-14 points and NC State by 17-24.

No. This team could not be 8-0 this season. The record is the record. Every team could make an argument that they could be undefeated if A, B, C, D, E….etc etc hadn’t happened. It’s a stupid take.
